New Year’s visits to shrines and temples
皆様こんにちは。今回初めてブログを担当します、オークウッドレジデンス麻布十番のカスタマーサービス、行田と申します。寒い日が続いておりますが、皆様どのようにお過ごしでしょうか。
今回のブログでは先日初詣もかねていくつか神社やお寺に行ってきましたのでご紹介させて頂きたいと思います。
まずは池上にある、池上本門寺です。広い境内には絵画が展示されている場所や、五重塔等歴史的建物もあり, 普段中までは見られないようですが、松濤園という日本庭園もあります。お正月だけでなく、近日ですと２月３日の節分にも多くの人が訪れるそうです。
次は飯田橋にある、東京大神宮です。縁結びや良縁で有名な伊勢神宮で新年あけてから一週間以上経った後にも関わらず参拝やお守りを購入する人でいっぱいでした。大神宮周辺の飯田橋や神楽坂には美味しいレストランやカフェ、素敵なお店も多く、飯田橋から神楽坂上の新潮社まで坂を上りつつ探索するのが私のお勧めです。
最後にオークウッドレジデンス麻布十番から歩いてすぐ近くにあります、十番稲荷神社です。港区の七福神をみんな乗せた縁起の良い宝船があり、防火、火傷のお守りとして蛙の石像もあり、「かえる」の語音から、病気や旅行から無事帰る、若返る、遺失物がかえる等の理由で訪れる方がたくさんいらっしゃるようです。そのカエルのお守りも有名です。
良く知られている明治神宮や靖国神社に行くのも良いですが、ぜひ機会があれば今回紹介した場所にも足を運んでみてください。新しい発見があるかと思います。
そして麻布稲荷神社に寄られた後には、商店街と合わせてオークウッドレジデンス麻布十番にもお立ち寄りください。スタッフ一同お待ちしております。

* 池上本門寺 [Ikegami Honmonji temple]
Hello everyone. My name is Shiori Yukita, customer service representative at Oakwood Residence Azabujyuban.
Today, I would like to introduce several shrines and temples in Tokyo. The first place is the Ikegami Honmonji temple at Ikegami. It is a historical place with a Buddha enshrined in the main hall. Also, the statue of Nichiren Shōnin and the five-story pagoda there have been designated as important cultural property of Japan. When I visited the temple, the place was crowded with New Year’s visits.
The second place is the Tokyo Daijingu at Iidabashi, one of the five major Shinto shrines in Tokyo. Because the shrine is known for good marriage, even though it was over a week after the New Years, there was a line of people giving prayers and buying many kinds of good-luck charms. After visiting the shrine, I also recommend taking a walk through the Iidabashi and Kagurazaka area, for there are many good restaurants and shops to see.
The last place is Juban Inari Shrine at our Azabujuban. It is the only place in Minato ward where you can see the ship with all 7 gods of Shichi-fuku-jin. The frog statue there is meant to protect from fire and burn injury. Also, because of the sound of the word frog in Japanese, “Kaeru” also means “to come back”, people come to pray for someone on the trip, or someone staying at the hospital, or something lost to “come back” safely. From this frog, the shrine even sells a frog shaped charm for safety.
We are often asked to give directions to the major Yasukuni shrine, Meiji Jingu shrine, and the Asakusa temple. But if you have the chance, I also recommend on visiting other shrines and temples in Tokyo, for you might find different interesting facts of each places.
