子供達の笑顔

皆様、こんにちは。オークウッドレジデンス青山カスタマーサービスの長沼沙希子と申します。

入社してから1年3ヶ月目になります。その間本当にいろんな事を学びたくさんの仲間、そしてお客様と出会うことができました。

私は入社したとき3つの場所で面接を受けました。オークウッドレジデンス麻布十番・オークウッドプレミア東京ミッドタウン・そしてオークウッドレジデンス青山です。都内に８ヵ所あるオークウッドも、場所が違えばその雰囲気も違います。

麻布十番と青山はアットホームなところが比較的似ていると思いますがミッドタウンへ行ったときはそのゴージャスさに圧倒され緊張してしまったのを今でも思い出します。

晴れて私が勤務することになったオークウッドレジデンス青山ではやはり家族連れが多く、最近は特にその傾向が強いように思われます。オークウッドでは小さなお子様がいてもご家族みなさまが楽しく滞在ができるよう心がけております。ここ青山には、敷地内の中庭にプレイエリアを設けています。就学前のお子様方が楽しそうに遊び、その傍らで保護者の方どうしが談笑される風景をよく見かけます。

7月10日にはオークウッドレジデンス赤坂・オークウッドアパートメンツ六本木セントラル・オークウッドアパートメンツ白金・オークウッドレジデンス青山合同での七夕パーティーが行われます。毎回多くのお客様にご参加頂き、皆様との距離が縮まる良い機会でもあります。

ご夫婦・単身赴任の方はもちろんご家族でも快適にお過ごし頂けるオークウッドにぜひお越しください。どのお客様にとっても第二のホームになれること間違いなしです。

Smile of Children

Hello, everyone! My name is Sakiko Naganuma, and I am a Customer Service Representative at Oakwood Residence Aoyama. It’s been a year and 3 months since I joined Oakwood. I have learned so many things and had a chance to meet a lot of wonderful co-workers and guests. I went through 3 interviews at different properties when I joined the team; Azabujuban, Tokyo Midtown and Aoyama. All 8 properties have different atmosphere. Azabujuban and Aoyama are almost similar in a way of homelike atmosphere, but I still remember how much I was nervous at Tokyo Midtown in its luxurious mood.

At Aoyama, we have a lot of family guests staying here. We strive ourselves to provide various services for families’ comfortable stay. One example is “Children’s Play Area” which is located in the courtyard in our own premises. I often see children enjoying slides and sand pit, while their mothers and fathers exchange conversation with each other pleasantly.

In early July, we are having a “Tanabata” party, co-hosted by Oakwood Residence Akasaka, Oakwood Apartments Shirokane, Oakwood Apartments Roppongi Central, and Oakwood Residence Aoyama. Our guests enjoy it very much since it’s always a good chance for them to meet new people and simply just to have fun.

Whether you are a couple, a father left his family at home for work or a family, everybody is welcomed to Oakwood. We are sure that we will be your home away from home.

夏の到来！

こんにちは。オークウッドアパートメンツ白金のカスタマーサービスの井出順子と申します。

東京も梅雨に入りましたが、これが明ければいよいよ夏の到来ですね！

皆様はすでに夏のバケーションの予定はお考えですか？私は一足早く休暇を頂き、ハワイはオアフ島に行ってきました。

何度か訪れている場所ですが、大自然の中にはいつも新しい発見があり、人々はやさしく、たくさんの人を魅了するのも納得です。なんといっても、いつ訪れてもとても気持ちいいのです・・。

Summer has arrived!

Hello, this is Junko from Customer Service Representative Team. You can meet me at the front desk of Oakwood Apartments Shirokane.

Tokyo has entered humid rainy season, though, once its over, summer will come to us!

Have you considered your vacation plan for this summer already? I had my holiday a little earlier, and took that opportunity to visit Oahu Island in Hawaii.

Even though I have visited this place several times, I always feel ‘I can’t get enough!’ Beautiful beaches and mountains are always the attractions, people are very nice to you, and the relaxing air of Hawaii always welcomes people…

Take a look of this beautiful beach, found just behind the residential area.

I would like to visit neighbor islands too– Maui, Kauai and Big Island, and explore my experience in nature-full beautiful Hawaii.

素敵な出会い

はじめまして、今回初ブログを担当することになりました清水千賀です。オークウッドではカスタマーサービスとして当初は青山、現在は白金にて勤務して、約2年9ヶ月が経ちました。

その間には、たくさんの出会いがありました。オークウッドは長期滞在者が多く、青山や白金はご家族で滞在される方もとても多いのも特徴的です。そのため、お子様も多く、はじめのころは挨拶だけだったのが毎日、顔を合わせるうちに慣れてきて、絵を書いてもってきて、「ハイ、これあげる。」と言って去っていく、女の子。携帯の着信音で入っているお気に入りの曲を聞かせてくれた男の子。今日はディズニーランドに行ってきたよ。」と買ったお土産品を見せてくれたお子様。まるでお姉さんのように？慕ってくれているような感じがしてとっても嬉しいものです。

その中でも、ある男の子。最初のころはおとなしい印象だったのに、慣れてきたころにはフロント付近に隠れて、いきなり出てきてバーッと口を大きく開いて驚かせました。フロントに座っていて仕事に集中している時にいきなり小さな顔がでてきたので、とってもビックリしました。またあるとき、私は代々木公園で行われるタイフェスティバルが好きで毎年のように行くのですが、そこでばったりそのご家族と会い、男の子に私の持っていたタイの海老のスナック菓子をあげたら恥ずかしそうに食べていました。フロントで毎日見せていた時とは違う印象だったので、私がなぜいつもの制服ではないのかと不思議そうな目で見ていました。

しかし、それでもやはり別れというものはやってくるのです。毎日顔を合わせていたゲストが退去してしまうのは、淋しいものです。その男の子も退去することになり、恥ずかしそうに私に一枚の写真をくれました。その写真は、男の子自身の満面の笑みで写っていました。その写真は今でも大切に保管しておりますが、その写真を見る度、懐かしく思い、また会いたいな~と思います。

そんな素敵な出会いがあるからこそ、カスタマーサービスとしてのやりがいがあり、皆様により良いサービスを心がけようと思います。

Wonderful encounters

Hello, this is Chika Shimizu who is in charge of blog this time. It has been two years and nine months since I started to work at Oakwood as a customer service representative. I had been working at Aoyama property and now I am working in Shirokane.

I had various wonderful encounters during that time. There are many long-stay travelers at Oakwood, and particularly at Oakwood Aoyama and Shirokane, we have a number of family guests with children. At the beginning, they only greet and every time we see each other, we are getting accustomed to it. One girl came by at the front desk and brought the pictures to me, and said, “This is for you.” Another boy came by at the front desk and asked me to listen to his favorite music that he uses as the cell-phone melody. One child said to me, “I went to the Disneyland today” and showed some souvenirs to me. I feel that they long for me like their sister, which makes me happy.

There is one boy who strongly impressed me. At the beginning, he seemed to be a quiet boy. However, as we became to know each other, one time he hided behind the front desk and came out suddenly, and surprised me by opening his month. As I was concentrating on my task, I was extremely surprised at his face which suddenly appeared in front of me. Another time, when I went to Yoyogi Park for my favourite annual Thai Festival, I ran across the family. I gave him the shrimp snack that I have bought in the festival and he was shyly eating. He was different from him I always see in work, and was looking at me curiously. Probably he was wondering why I was not wearing the uniform.

However, still the farewell comes suddenly. It is always very sad to say goodbye to the guests because we have been seeing each other every day. The time came for the little boy to leave Oakwood and he gave me his picture. He was really smiling on his picture. I keep the picture at hand and every time I see the picture, it reminds me of him and I miss him.

Because we have such wonderful encounters, that’s what makes it so rewarding as the customer service. Therefore, I would like to provide the better customer service for customers all over the world.

テストステイ

はじめまして、オークウッドレジデンス青山のカスタマーサービス、石原真知子です。

ここオークウッドでは、ためになる様々なトレーニングがあります。その中の一つに、「テストステイ」という、実際にスタッフが客室に泊まって滞在を体験するというプログラムがあります。

リビング、ベッドルーム、キッチン、バスルームには、日本ならではの物や、海外の方にも納得していただけるような実際に生活をするのに便利なアイテムがたくさんあります。決して操作が難しいものではありませんが、初めて使う電化製品などは、海外からのお客様はもちろん日本人にとっても戸惑うことがありますよね。

そんな時にお客様が頼りにしてくださるのが私たちカスタマーサービスです。私も、漠然と使い方が分かっているつもりでも、実際に細かいことを聞かれるとよく分からないことが多々ありました。実際に客室に滞在し体験することによって、スタッフ自身も、便利さやお部屋の良さなどを深く理解できるわけです。私たちの為になり、ひいてはお客様の為にもなるプログラムです。

私が滞在した２日間、お部屋から仕事に行き、夕方仕事が終わると周りを散歩して、夜は足を伸ばせるお風呂でのんびりしました。ソファに座って大きなテレビでDVDを見たり、お洗濯をしてみたり。普段一人暮らしの私は、人の多い電車にゆられ、帰って狭いキッチンで食事を作り、狭くて湯船に浸かる気にもならないお風呂でシャワーを浴びるといった毎日ですが、一転そんな日常を忘れる快適な生活を送りました。

青山はビジネス街に行くのにも便利ですし、ことにオークウッドの周りは、散歩しているとたくさんの発見ができる地域です。単身赴任の方にも家族連れのお客様にも、どんな年齢の方も、都会の真ん中でありながらなぜか落ち着くことのできる、そんな場所ではないかと思います。

もちろん私たちオークウッドのスタッフも、お客様の東京での滞在が想像以上の思い出になるよう、いつでもお手伝いいたします。皆様のお越しをお待ちしております！

Test Stay

Hello. My name is Machiko Ishihara, Customer Service Representative of Oakwood Residence Aoyama.

Here in Oakwood, there are several training programs, and the one I would like to introduce today is a “Test Stay”. This program enables us to try the guest room by staying overnight at our property.

Facilities of living room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom in the guest rooms are useful for both foreigners and Japanese. Customer service representatives are there for situation where guests have questions on how to use our facilities. Although we think we understand how to operate all the facilities as they are not too complicated, we also become confused when guests ask us for specific details. This test stay provides a good opportunity for our associates to gain knowledge by experiencing the facilities, and it of course this helps both our associates and our guests.

While I was staying in the guest room for two days, I went to work from the room and walked around the town after work. I also soaked in the bathtub where I could fully stretch my legs. I also watched DVD with big plasma TV screen while I was doing the laundry in the room. These are very different from my ordinary life in the apartment I live by myself. I did not have any stress from crowded train, both small kitchen and bathroom!!

The location of Aoyama is good for any people such as business people, family and any ages. It is easy to access anywhere and have many discoveries even around the Oakwood property. I think this is the place for anyone to relax.

Of course, Oakwood associates are here all the time to make our guest’s’ memory of Tokyo more wonderful than they could expect. We are all looking forward to seeing you!

お客様とスタッフを繋ぐもの

いつもこのブログを楽しみにしていただいている皆様、こんにちは。梅雨も近づき、蒸し暑い日々が続きますが、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？今回のブログを担当させていただくことになりました、カスタマー・サービスの柏木義貴です。

わたくし事ではありますが、つい最近、入社以来勤務しておりました赤坂から、青山に移って参りました。ふたつの物件を担当した経験から、本日はオークウッド最大の魅力のひとつ、お客様とわたくしどもスタッフの“距離”についてお話したいと思います。多少衒学的になりますが、きっとお楽しみいただけると願っております。

比較的最近の社会学の概念に建築家的権力というモノがあります。簡単に説明いたしますと、人が自分の意思で自由に振舞っていると思っていても、実は外部の建築的な構造などによってコントロールされている、という概念です。椅子の硬さや室内温度、ＢＧＭの音量などで人々に一定の影響を与え、お店の回転率を上げる、近年ファミレスやファースト・フード店など、この建築的権力を取り入れている企業も少なくありません。企業の最前線で活躍されている方の多いオークウッドのお客様も、耳にしたことがあるのではないでしょうか？

カスタマー・サービスを担当するスタッフのブログでもよくわかるように、なんといってもお客様とわたくしどもスタッフとの距離の近さが、オークウッドの魅力の一つだと思います。このブログをいつもご覧になってくださっている方なら、２００９年の５月１１日にアップロードされた、赤坂の山田というスタッフによるブログを思い出されるのではないでしょうか？彼女のように、毎日の何気ない会話から、わたくしどもスタッフはお客様の嗜好などを探り、常にベストなサービスが提供できるように心がけているのですが、通常のホテルではこの「お客様の嗜好を探」る、という作業がそう簡単なことではありません。しかし、オークウッドならそれが可能になります。

例えば、わたくしがつい最近まで勤務していた赤坂のフロントデスクの前には、二つの快適な椅子が置いてあります。そして、お客様が利用されるエレベーターとエントランスの中間にフロントデスクがあるため、帰宅される方も外出される方も、フロントデスクの目の前を通られます。最初は挨拶を交わすだけだったお客様が、次第にその椅子に腰を掛け、わたくしどもスタッフと毎日なにげない会話を交わす。そして、気づいたときには、いつしかお客様と我々スタッフの関係がビジネス・ライクではなく、親しい友人や家族のような関係に。

プロフェッショナルなサービス提供し、さらに友人や家族のような、いつしか気の置けない関係になる。マニュアルやトレーニングだけでは成しえない、このオークウッドでの一期一会なサービス提供できるのも、私どもオークウッドの建築的家権力が関係しているのかもしれません。

一人でも多くの方と素敵な関係を築くため、わたくしどもスタッフはいつも皆様をお待ちしております。

Building Bridges

Firstly I would like to wish you a warm welcome and hello to my first blog. I would like to thank you for reading, and I hope you will find the information to be helpful and insightful.

My name is Yoshitaka Kashiwagi. I think the most important information I can supply to you is that the rainy season will soon be upon us, so I urge you to take sensible precautions and be prepared for hot, wet and humid days.

I have recently moved from Oakwood residence Akasaka to Oakwood Residence Aoyama. From my experience in these two properties, I would like to talk about the “distance” between customers and staff members. It may seem a little pedantic, but I hope you enjoy.

In recent sociological study a new notion has been presented called Architectural Power. In a nutshell this theory suggests that the general public hold the belief that we all behave with our own free will, but in fact our behaviour is manipulated subtly. For example in fast food chains the hardness of chairs, temperature and humidity of the room along with the volume of music all play an unconscious role in determining the length of time we stay in the establishment. Allowing for these variables to be changed provides associate members power over the behaviour.

In Akasaka where I was working until recently two comfortable chairs are positioned close to the customer service desk in aim to provide the guest with opportunity to come and talk to your customer representatives in a comfortable and friendly environment. The setting is allowing the positive relationship to build, and giving us as your representatives an insight into your interests and enabling us to help you better enjoy your time at Oakwood Residencies. You may notice this in the blog written by Eri Yamada (11-05-2009)

On the first encounter with guests and customer service representatives, the conversation is limited to general greeting. But as time progresses associates and guest relationship will also grow into enjoyable friendly conversation about everyday life as with friends and family.

雛鳥はいつか巣立ちます…

こんにちは。オークウッドレジデンス青山のカスタマーサービスの中川緑です。

私事ですが…

オークウッド ではみんな入社してまず、他物件合同のトレーニングを受けます。合同トレーニングをすると同時に実際に現場でも先輩によるマンツーマンのトレーニングを受けます。

今回私は初めて後輩をトレーニングする事となり、記念すべき最初のトレーニ－は柏木さんでした。彼はオークウッドレジデンス赤坂を１年程経験した後、青山のオークウッドに異動となりました。とは言え物件が変わっただけでまるで別世界、未知です。

私もそんな彼をトレーニングするのに初めはとてもドキドキしていました。実際に横に座って普段当たり前のようにやっていることを言葉にするだけでも私にとってはとても勉強になりました。彼も人一倍一生懸命でした。

そんな柏木さんは来月オークウッドを卒業することになりました。彼の成長を真横で見ていた私の気持ちはとても複雑です…が、オークウッドで感じたことや経験したことをまた違う場所でも忘れずに頑張ってもらいたいです。

そしてこの場を借りて、私をトレーニングしてくれたたまきさん、ちかさん、本当にありがとうございます！

Hello, this is Midori, Customer Service at Oakwood Residence Aoyama.

Though this is a personal matter…

At Oakwood, everyone when they join the organization has to take an educational training mixed with colleagues from other properties. At the same time, we are trained one-on-one by a senior on site.

I had to train one of my associate, for the first time, and my memorable first trainee was Yoshi-san. He joined Aoyama property after experiencing Oakwood Residence Akasaka for almost 1 year. Though it is an internal transfer between the properties, it is completely another world and unknown.

I was very nervous when I began to train him. By sitting alongside, teaching and providing advices to him about what I do usually during routine duty was actually teaching me a good lesson, too. And he was actually pitching in than other people.

But he has decided to graduate Oakwood next month. As I was always watching his growth at the site, I have this kind of mixed feelings… but I really want him to flourish and not to forget what he has felt and experienced with us.

And my trainer, Tamaki-san and Chika-san, Thank you so very much for teaching me with patience!

オークウッドレジデンス麻布十番のフロントチーム

初めまして。今回ブログを担当させていただきますオークウッドレジデンス麻布十番の菅原亜紀と申します。今日は麻布十番のフロントスタッフを紹介したいと思います。

麻布十番で一番若いスタッフは石井愛子です。オークウッドに入社して2年になります。彼女はプライベートでフランス語を習っています。フランス語圏のゲストの方はご安心ください。挨拶程度はフランス語でできるそうです。性格はおっとりしていてとても落ち着いています。時々一番お姉さんじゃないかなあと思ってしまう事もあります。

次は小泉裕美子の紹介をいたします。去年の12月に私と共に四ツ谷から移動になり麻布十番のスタッフとなりました。今ではずっと前からここにいるような雰囲気を醸し出しています。彼女は数字が強く細かい計算など非常に得意です。プライベートではテニスを中心にランニングなどとてもスポーティーなライフを送っているようです。見た目も体育会系ではありますが、実は某有名お嬢様学校出身です。

河内里才はオークウッドに入って1年になる4人の中では一番新米です。カリフォルニアに留学していたようです。動物愛好家だと聞いていたのですが、この前フロント付近に鳩が迷い込んだ時は、異常に怖がっていたのが印象的でした。犬や猫は大好きでゲストのペットの名前は全て覚えてます。

最後に私。4人の中では一番年長ですが、他の3人と同じ若さで頑張りたいと日々思っております。休みはジムやフラで体を動かしています。前職の航空会社、旅行会社（海外勤務）で学んだ経験などを生かし、毎日世界各国から来るゲストをお迎えできるカスタマーサービスの楽しさを実感しています。これからもオークウッドで沢山の経験を積んで行きたいと思います。

Hello nice to meet you. I’m Aki from Oakwood Residence Azabujuban and this is my turn to entry this blog. Today, I would like to introduce our front desk members at Azabujuban.

First I would like to introduce our youngest staff of all, Aiko. She has been with Oakwood for 2 years now.
She is taking French lesson when she at her private time, so if you are a French speaker do not worry!! Aiko will greet you in French of course. Her character is very gentle and mature for her age. It is hard to believe she is really the youngest member. Isn’t she the oldest one??.

Next, Yumiko has been transferred from Oakwood Apartment Yotsuya last December with me. Now she seems as if she has been here for the longest time. One of her sales point is that she is extremely good with numbers. She can do any calculation with no problem. She enjoys most of the time doing sports especially tennis and running. Even she acts like a serious athlete, we know that she is from one of the famous private girl’s school. Can you imagine?

Risa is the newest member amongst all. She has been with us one year since she joined Oakwood. She went to college in California. I remember she told me that she loves all kinds of animals and I believed it until we saw an incident where a poor pigeons wander off into our office few days ago. She was absolutely terrified and could not move for a while. We found that the only animals she love are cats and dogs. She remembers all the pet’s name that are staying with our guests here.

Last is myself. I am the oldest among the four. Like the other girls, I try to be young and fresh every day. On my day off, I often go to gym or Hula dance lesson to exercise. My former job in Airline industry and Travel industry (overseas) proves to be very useful experience for the position as Customer Service Representative. It is most exciting opportunity to welcome guests who are from all over world and I wish to continue to enhance my career development at Oakwood.

知り合っていくということ

こんにちは。今回のBlogを担当します、オークウッドレジデンス赤坂のカスタマーサービスの山田と申します。最近、心が温まったエピソードをお伝えしようと思います。

オークウッドレジデンス赤坂に働き始めて1年半が過ぎ、入社当初からの長いお付き合いのお客様がたくさんいます。お付き合いが長いと、お客様の嗜好や趣味、住んでいらっしゃらないご家族の近況まで、私達は知る事ができます。

オーストラリアからのご夫婦で、旦那様がお仕事に行かれている間に、奥様がお部屋から降りてきて、他愛ない会話をフロントで１０分程度するという日課がもう半年ほど、続いています。奥様は食が細く、サラダやスープ、紅茶よりコーヒー、スキーは一度事故に合ったのに懲りずに好きで、お母様は最近９０歳になったことや子供４人が全員男の子で育てるのに一苦労だったということが彼女との会話で知る事が出来たほんの一部です。

その奥様がある日、スーパーでのお買い物から帰ってこられたときに、「えりの大好物を発見したの！」と仰り、お買い物袋から取り出したのは、Arnott’sのTim Tams（しかもダブルコート！）。

そこでふと、当時の１ヶ月ほど前にした会話で、オーストラリア出身の奥様と国の名産のお話をしていた時、私が「オーストラリアの天才的なお菓子といえば、絶対にTim Tamでしょう。」と言ったのを思い出しました。

お客様に興味を持ち、他愛ない会話の中からでも、嗜好や趣味を汲み取るのはカスタマーサービスとして身につけなければならない大事な要素のひとつですが、その気持ちはただ一方通行ではなく、相互作用して、お客様も私達カスタマーサービスひとりひとりの事を把握してくださっているのだなと、感動し、とても光栄に思いました。

Tim Tamですが、もったいなくて、まだ食べられていません。

Hello everyone. I am Eri Yamada, Customer Service Representative at Oakwood Residence Akasaka, and I would like to share with you a heartwarming experience I had while working here.

It has been a year and a half since I joined Oakwood Residence Akasaka, and many residents and I go a long way back. After knowing each other for so long, we come to know the residents’ specific tastes in food, music, etc., their hobbies, even names and occupations of their extended family members.

There is a lovely woman from Australia, and while her husband is away at work, she would come downstairs for a chat with us, and this has become a daily ritual since they moved in half a year ago. The fact that she does not eat much and likes salads and soup, coffee over tea, loves to ski even though she had a pretty major accident a while ago, that her mother has become 90 years old, and her 4 children, all boys, were a handful raising them, are only few of the things I found out about her during our so-called small talks.

One day, she came back from an ordinary day at the supermarket, and she stopped by the front desk, said, “Eri, I found one of your favorites!”. Shuffled through her shopping bag, and she held out “Tim Tams” (Double coated!!), the well-known and delicious chocolate covered cookies.

Then, I remembered the conversation we had about a month earlier, when she and I were talking about our countries’ local specialties. I mentioned briefly that Tim Tams were hands down the most genius snack Australian people created.

It is one of our important duties as Customer Service Representatives to pick up on the residents’ likes and dislikes from these small talks, but found out from this experience that the feeling is mutual, and the residents do the exact same thing and know us just the same, and I felt honored and touched at the same time.

The Tim Tams are still placed on the top of my shelf at home for me to look at, because it is just too valuable and precious to scarf down.

自分磨き

こんにちは！そして初めまして。今回は私、宮子雅絵がオークウッドプレミア東京ミッドタウンのカスタマーサービスより3人目として、ブログを担当させていただきます！

私は、アメリカの大学でホテル経営学を学んだ後、昨年オークウッドに入社したばかりのまだまだ新米です。
就職活動中なかなか自分にあった業種が見つからず苦戦していた時、ふと知ったのが日本ではまだ新しいサービスアパートメントという業界でした。その中でオークウッドを見つけた時は、『ここしかない！』と感じたのを今でも覚えています。

実は私はこのブログを見て更にオークウッドの魅力に惹かれたんです。そんな私が今はこのブログを書いてるって少し驚きです。

さて、話は変わりますが皆さんは今自分磨きとしてなにか努力していることはありますか？

最近はさまざまな資格を修得し、自己投資をする人達がとても増えています。
オークウッドプレミア東京ミッドタウンのスタッフも、今自分磨きをしつつ、ご滞在されているお客様により快適にな生活を送っていただこうと新しいことに挑戦するのがちょっとした流行になっています。

お花教室に通ったり、マンション管理士の資格取得を目指したり、最近ではあるスタッフがアロマセラピー検定にに合格しました。その知識を活かして消臭を目的としたアロマオイルをお部屋の冷蔵庫、靴箱等に設置するというサービスを始めました。

私自身も入社してお客様にお手紙を書く際にあまりにも雑な字がとても恥ずかしく思いペン字を勉強中です。

自分の知識やスキルを磨きつつ、それが少しでもご滞在されているお客様が毎日笑顔で快適な生活を送ることに繋がるように、スタッフ個人個人が考え努力してます。

みなさんも目標を見つけて新しいことに挑戦してみてはいかがですか?

Greetings to all! My name Masae Miyako and I am working as a Customer Service Representative at Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown, and I will be the third blogger among the team here.

It has been almost one year since I joined Oakwood and I am still a beginner compared to other associates. After studying abroad in hotel administration in the United States, I have had a very hard time finding myself and the right job for me. It was then that I found the serviced apartment industry which was still new in Japan, and I became interested.
I still remember, the moment I found Oakwood, I was so sure that this was the “right job” for me. I was so excited I felt like I was already a part of Oakwood even before I was hired.
I was actually a fan of reading this blog which made me more curious about Oakwood, so isn’t it surprising that I am now writing the blog?!

Well, enough about me, so let me change the subject.

Question: Are you currently working on something to brush up your skills?

Recently, it has become a trend in Japan to study and to acquire some qualification. This trend has also influenced our associates at Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown too.
We have some associates studying to be certified in apartment/mansion management and flower arrangement. Our most recent achievement was that one of our staff has passed the licensing exam from the Aroma Environment Association of Japan to be certified as our official Aromatherapy Advisor. With her effort, we recently placed scents as a refresher in some locations in our guest room: refrigerator, shoebox, and below the sink area.

I myself have started practicing penmanship/calligraphy since I felt too embarrassed with my own handwriting when writing messages to our guests.

It might be a small change for others, but these certified skills create more than enough motivation for us to improve our quality of service if it can assist making our guest’s stay more comfortable and happy.

Why not try learning new things to improve your skills?

ピンバッジ

みなさん、こんにちは！
オークウッドプレミア東京ミッドタウンでカスタマーサービスをしております海江田磨美と申します。この会社に入社してはや３年目になります。面接の時にジェネラルマネージャーのマーティンに“卵料理ができる？”と聞かれた時、他の質問にはこたえられたのですが、これだけは･･･と、とても印象に残っています。

今日は、社員として楽しみにしているミッドタウンのバッチについてご紹介させていただきます。季節のイベント毎にテーマにあわせたピンバッジを配られるので、期間中、制服の襟元に付けて楽しんでいます。

今まであったものの一部を下にご紹介します;

左から、ピンクリボン、ミッドタウンクリスマス、そしてミッドタウン桜となりまして、先週届いたばかりのものが下にあります「ミッドパーク　プロジェクト」のバッジで、５月６日までの限定です。今回のイベントはミッドタウンの自然を楽しもう！というコンセプトのもと、青空の下でサーカスや野外図書館、ヨガ教室などを開催しています。

ゴールデンウィーク中なのでみなさんぜひお友達やご家族と一緒にいらしてください！

Greetings to all viewers!! I am Mami Kaieda working as a Customer Service Representative at Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown. Oakwood is my first actual job I had and I am now in my third year. I still remember the day of my interview and I will never forget the one and only question our General Manager, Martin asked me. Believe it or not it was “Can you cook eggs?” I had prepared every answer to every possible question I may be asked BUT for this.

Well today, I’d like to introduce one of the things I look forward to working here: badges. Midtown distributes badges every time they organize an event and we are required to wear these badges during the events. Above are some of the badges we had in the past:

From the left, Pink Ribbon badge, Midtown Christmas badge and Midtown Blossom badge, and we got another new badge last week!

This “Midpark Project” will be held until May 6th. This event is all about having fun within the nature of Midtown. We will be having circus performances, an open air library, and yoga classes out on the green. Since it will be held during the Golden Week, please come by and have fun with your friends and family!!

六本木でのランチ

２回目のブログでは私が六本木でランチをとるのにお勧めなレストランを紹介させていただきます。

私が働いているオークウッドアパートメンツ六本木セントラルから徒歩10秒のところにあるバンコクという名前のお気に入りのタイレストランです。私は数えられないほどこのレストランを利用してますが(ランチのみですが)、他物件のオークウッドの同僚でもこのレストランに行ったことがある人はとても多いかと思います。

お勧めな理由は味はもちろんの事、何とってもランチメニュー(11:30-14:00)で月曜日から金曜日までの３種類の日替わりメニューが１０００円で食べられるんです。ランチ時になると店内はいつも満員で相席になることは毎度のことです。そして店の外には店に入りきらないお客さんが列を作っているんです。外国人の方もとても多く、毎回店内には３分の１くらいの割合で日本に勤める外国人のお客さんがいます。

本場の味に近いのでたまにとても辛い料理もありますが、六本木にお越し頂いた際にはぜひお試しいだきたいレストランです。

Lunch in Roppongi

In my second blog entry, I would like to introduce you one of my favorite restaurant to have lunch in Roppongi.

The restaurant is called “Bangkok” and it’s the Thai restaurant located only 10 seconds away from Oakwood Apartments Roppongi Central where I work at. I’ve been to the restaurant so many times (only for lunch time) and I’m sure that many of my colleagues at different Oakwood properties have been to the restaurant at least once.

The reason I like the restaurant so much is that of course the food is all good but also the price and the daily lunch set menu (3 different lunch menus everyday) is all 1,000 yen. During lunch time, the restaurant gets really crowded and you will need to share your table with other customers, and there are also customers waiting to get a seat in front of the restaurant.

There are many foreign customers in the restaurant. Probably one third of the customers in the restaurant are foreigners working in Japan.

Some of the lunch menu items are really spicy but I do recommend you try this restaurant when you have a chance to come to Roppongi area.

お客様からのカード

こんにちは。今回のブログを担当させていただきます、オークウッドアパートメンツ六本木セントラル/オークウッドレジデンス赤坂のセールスコーディネーターの小柳出です。

私は２００５年にオークウッドレジデンス赤坂にカスタマーサービスとして入社し、２００５年の１１月にオークウッドアパートメンツ六本木セントラルへオープニングスタッフとして異動になりました。

忙しい毎日ですが、その中でも励みになるのはお客様から頂く感謝の気持ちや温かい言葉です。オークウッドではチェックアウト後にお客様からThank you カードやクリスマスカードをよくもらうことが多々あります。オークウッドはホテルと違い長期間を通してお客様と接する機会がとても多いのです。

私が予約を担当し３年程前にご滞在いただいたご夫婦からは、いまでも毎年クリスマスカードを頂いています。こちらの写真はオークウッドレジデンス赤坂で撮ったもので、お客様から頂いたカード類をオフィスの壁に飾ってあるんです。中にはスタッフひとりひとりの名前を覚えていてくれて、スタッフ全員の名前を書いてくれるお客様もいらっしゃいました。

お客様からの感謝の気持ちが書かれたカードやお手紙に励まされ、また癒されながら、今後も更なるサービスの向上をめざしていきたいと思います。

Hello. My name is Rie Oyaide, I am the sales coordinator at Oakwood Apartments Roppongi Central and Oakwood Residence Akasaka, and this is my first blog entry.

I joined Oakwood in 2005 as a customer service representative in Oakwood Residence Akasaka and I was transferred to Oakwood Apartments Roppongi Central as one of the opening staff in November of the same year.

Though it is very busy everyday, there are some happy moments at work. One of the best moments is when customers express their gratitude for our assistance.

In Oakwood, we often receive thank you cards or Christmas cards after our customers check out. Not like hotels, we have a number of opportunities to get to know our customers throughout their long stay.
A couple who used to stay with us about 3 years ago still sends us a Christmas card every year and writes us with their updates.

The picture here is taken at Oakwood Residence Akasaka. We keep all the cards received from our customers and post them on a board in our office. Some of those customers remember the name of each one of our staff and write all of our names down on the card too.

We really appreciate our customer’s warm support in expressing their gratitude and it motivates us to provide the best service to our customers.

開業２周年

はじめまして。オークウッドプレミア東京ミッドタウン、セールスコーディネーターの坂本です。
今回から２回にわたってブログを担当します。

六本木ミッドタウンも今春２周年を迎えました。おしゃれで高級感のある最先端のエリア、そして日本初のプレミアブランドのオークウッドプレミア東京ミッドタウン、何をとってもあこがれのエリアでした。私自身も一度は行ってみたいと思いつつオークウッドアパートメンツ新宿で働いていました。

そのミッドタウンへ異動してから４ヶ月、開業２周年のパーティーに参加することが出来ました。スタッフの手作りのパーティーでみんなの暖かさを感じるひと時でした。ハウスキーピングスタッフ、エンジニア、フロントスタッフ、アカウンティングスタッフ、セールスとオークウッドを支える力強いチームが２年間盛り上げてきたこと改めて実感しました。

サービスとは人が作り上げるもの、そして無限の可能性があり１００％はないということをオークウッドに入って強く感じる今日この頃です。自分がして欲しいと思うことをお客様へおもてなしするというオークウッドのモットーを心に留めて更に満足度の高いサービスに努めたいと思います。そのためには皆様のオークウッドでの体験、そしてフィードバックが必要です。十人十色ということわざがありますが、まさにサービス向上にはそれが必要なのです。ぜひ皆様の体験お待ちしております。

Hello! I am Masako Sakamoto, sales coordinator in Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown.
I will be in charge for next two entries here.

Midtown has just celebrated the second anniversary this spring. The Tokyo Midtown, fashionable, high-end and extremity of trendy area, is where Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown is located. The first Premier brand for Oakwood Japan, it is a place where many people wishes to be. I was working in Shinjuku property when it opened I was wishing to visit someday.

I then was transferred to the Midtown property last November and nearly 4 months have passed. I was invited to attend the 2nd anniversary associate party lately. I felt the associate’s warmth through the hand made party and I spent a really great time. I came to realization that associates from various departments housekeeping, engineering, front office, accounting and sales, all have come together for the past two years to form a strong team that put their effort in delivering customer satisfaction.

Service standard is what people build up and it has infinite possibility with no 100% perfection. This is what I feel since I joined to the Oakwood team. Treat our Customer and Associates the way we would like to be treated-this is our golden promise and we would like to make an effort to achieve higher satisfactory service for all stakeholders. To improve ourselves, we require many guests to experience Oakwood and receive feedbacks. There is a saying that several men, several minds. For our higher standard of service, we indeed need your experience in Oakwood!

一期一会

「一期一会」は日本語のなかで好きな言葉の一つです。このような仕事に長年携わっていると、世界中からのお客様と接する機会が沢山ありました。その中でもここオークウッドレジデンス麻布十番にて出会った忘れられないお客様とのエピソードを少しお話したいと思います。

2003年の2月初旬に韓国からとても可愛らしい女の子がお父さんの転勤に伴い、このレジデンスに移り住んで来ました。彼女の名前は朴書永（パク ソヨン）ちゃんといい、当時は10ヶ月くらいでした。住み始めた当初は少し人見知りで神経質になっているようにもみかけられましたが、徐々にうちのスタッフにも慣れてきました。時間がある時は一緒にまま事をしたりラウンジで遊んだりと楽しい時間を過ごしました。お母様は韓国の中学校で英語の先生をされている方だったので、コミュニケーションをうまくとる事が出来たので、お母様と良い友達になる事が出来ました。彼女たちが日本を離れてからも友情はいまだに続いています。今ではソヨンちゃんは私の事を本当の伯母さんだと思っているようで親しみを込めて「キミコイモ」と韓国語で呼んでくれます。誤解のないように申し上げますが、「イモ」は韓国語で母方の伯母を指す言葉です。日本語の「芋」ではございませんので、悪しからず。
彼女は現在7歳になり小学校に今年から行き始めました。「光陰矢のごとし」とはこの事ですね。
写真は彼女が麻布十番の子供の秋祭りに参加した時の写真です。可愛らしいでしょう？

このような‘レジデンス’に勤めていて良い事の一つはお客様が比較的長期でお住まいになられる方が多いので、より深くお互いを知る事が出来るという点だと思います。このレジデンスにお住まいのお客様が私達と一つのビッグファミリーだと思える時もあります。

「一期一会」という言葉を常に胸に刻みつつ、まだ見ぬお客様にここオークウッドレジデンス麻布十番にて将来会える日を楽しみにしています。

ICHIGO ICHIE

“Ichigo Ichie” is one of my favorite Japanese phrases, which literally means that “you only have one chance to serve your guest.” Having been engaged with this job for a long time, I had many opportunities to meet wonderful guests all over the world. I would like to share an episode about one of those unforgettable guests whom I met at Oakwood Residence Azabujyuban.

In early February, 2003, a very cute little girl moved to our property from Korea. Her father’s work brought her family. Her name is Park Seoyoung who was about only 10 month-old when she relocated over here. She looked little nervous and shy when she started to live here but gradually started to accept our staff. Whenever I could find a time to spend together I played house with her,
or played in our lounge. Her mother is an English teacher at Junior High School in Korea so we could communicate and I also made good friends with her. Our friendship is still lasting even after they left Japan. Now it seems like she believes that I am her real aunty and always call me “Kimiko Imo” – “imo” means your aunt from your mother’s side sister in Korean. She is now 7 years-old and just started her elementary school life. How fast time flies! Here is a photo of Seoyoung in happy coat when she participated Kid’s Autumn Festival in Azabujyuban. She is cute, isn’t she?

One good thing about working for a residence like this is that since most of our guests live here for long term so we can get to know each other very well. We sometimes feel like we are one big family at Residence.

Keeping “Ichigo Ichie” phrase in my mind, I hope to be able to serve many guests whom I have not met yet but about to meet in the future at our property.

雑誌の取材を受けました

皆様よい週末を過ごされましたでしょうか。私は多摩川の土手へお花見に出かけ、数輪のさくらの花とおいしい“おでん”を堪能して参りました。まだしばらくお花見楽しめそうですね。

先日発売されたAERA English 5月号の特集、「英語力は現場で磨け！！」の中で英語勉強法を掲載していただきました！

取材にきていただいた際には、オークウッド入社前と入社後の英語勉強法などをお話させていただきました。学生時代は駐在員の家庭でベビーシッターのアルバイトをしていたこと、WOWOWの海外ドラマFelicityにはまりテープが擦りきれるほど繰り返し見ていたこと、また海外の雑誌・音楽・映画が好きで学校も行かずにタワーレコードに毎日のように入り浸っていたこと、オークウッドに入社してからはゲストや同僚の英語の会話やメールからビジネスでも活用できる単語や表現を覚え毎日が自然と勉強になっていることなどを紹介させていただきました。

今回AERA Englishに掲載していただき、記事を読んだ知人からたくさんのフィードバックをもらいました。
普段オークウッドには縁のない親戚や友人にオークウッドの名前を知ってもらえただけでもよかったです！

Hello again and happy Monday! I hope you had a lovely weekend.

As for me, I went for a picnic to enjoy delicious Oden and cherry blossoms which just started to bloom everywhere in Tokyo and by the Tama River. It’s just the beginning of the season and hopefully you all have a chance to enjoy them too

AERA English’s May issue was published last week and featured an article on “How to brush up your English skills at the workplace” which happened to feature an interview of myself on page 15! In the interview, I talked about how I learned English before and after joining the Oakwood.

In this article I mentioned how I spontaneously studied practical English. The following are example of how I learned the language: when I was a student, I used to baby-sit for expatriate families living in Tokyo.; I also used to watch repeatedly the American TV series called “Felicity” on the WOWOW satellite channel; I frequently skipped school to go to Tower Records to check out the foreign press, movies and music; lastly, since joining Oakwood, I have learned many useful English vocabularies through conversation with our guests and also business expressions from my colleagues.

I have received feedback from my friends who read this article. I’m glad that my relatives and friends were able to get to know more about my company through this article as they are not familiar with Oakwood.

オークウッドの研修プログラム

はじめまして、オークウッドレジデンス青山に在勤しておりますセールスコーディネーターの田嶋です。人生初のブログエントリーです！

このOakwoodブログをお読みいただいてる方の中には、なぜわざわざ英語と日本語両方で書かれているのか？と疑問に思う方もいらっしゃるかもしれません。

ご想像の通りオークウッドでは日本国外からのゲストが全体の７０～８０％を占めているのです！そして、海外からいらっしゃるゲストの多くがオークウッドを滞在先に選ぶ一つの理由として、バイリンガルスタッフがいて東京での滞在をよりスムーズで充実したものにする手助けをしてくれる、ということがあると思います。

私たち日本人にとって、英語を流暢に話すのは容易なことではありません。日本ではほとんどの人が中学・高校を通して６年間英語の基礎を学んでいます。オークウッドのスタッフには帰国子女や海外留学・就労経験者が多く、入社時にある程度の英語力は身についていると思います。それでも一旦仕事を離れると英語と接する機会がないかもしれませんが・・・

ここオークウッドでは充実したトレーニングプログラムがあり、様々なサービススキルを英語で学ぶ機会を与えられています。

Oakwood Universityと呼ばれるトレーニング部では、所属する部署や仕事内容にかかわらず、誰もが日本語・英語の語学講座はもとよりサービスクオリティーの向上を目指して数多くのトレーニングに参加できるようになっています。そしてトレーニングではゲストからのお問い合わせやご要望に対し、フレンドリーでいてかつプロフェッショナルに対応するにはどうしたらよいか、ロールプレイやグループアクティビティーなどを交えて英語で学ぶ場となっています。また普段顔を合わせることのない他物件のスタッフとも知り合うなど、とても楽しく貴重な研修の時間です。

Hi there! My name is Ryoho Tajima. I am a sales coordinator at Oakwood Residence Aoyama and this is my very first blog entry.

You may be reading this blog and wonder why there are both English and Japanese entries. As you may have guessed, 70 - 80% of our guests at Oakwood Tokyo are from outside of Japan. I believe our guests are finding it more easier to live in Tokyo with the assistance of our bilingual associates.

For many of us Japanese, English does not just roll easily off of our tongues. In Japan, junior high school and high school students spend 6 years learning basic English, and many of our associates have spent some time living abroad in English speaking countries. But outside of work, there are fewer opportunities to practice speaking English.

Here at Oakwood, we have training programs to help out our associates to continually improve our service skills in English. Oakwood University is a training department where any one of our associate can participate in learning service skills and English speaking skills. At these sessions, we practice how to interact with our guests, and how to respond to a variety of guest requests by using roll-plays/ group activities. It is also a good opportunity for us to get to know other associates from our sister properties through these trainings.

We take it very serious when it comes to offering our guests an exceptional service. Please feel free to talk to any of our associates here at Oakwood Tokyo.

桜　その2

こんにちは。今回2回目のブログになります渡辺です。

日本人は桜が咲く春という季節がとても好きです。日本の春は、新しく物事がスタートする時期で、家族や友人が集まり桜の下で一緒に食べて飲んで春の訪れを祝います。毎年、気象庁が「桜前線」という桜の開花情報を公表するほどです。

その理由としては、この桜前線が北上していくのを心待ちにしているからなのかも知れませんね。
たくさんの国でも春という季節が農作業を開始し、新学期が始まり、新社会人が働き始める季節である様に、ここ日本の春もそれぞれに新しい一歩を踏み出す季節なのです。

では、今回はオークウッドアパートメンツ白金についてご紹介します。アクセスは、地下鉄南北線「白金台駅」出口2番から徒歩3分、全36室（スタジオ：40㎡・1BD・2BD・3BD：104.7㎡）の家の様なとても心地良いアパートメンツです。

SAKURA Ver. 2

Hello, this is Tomoko again and this is my second blog entry.

The Japanese people have always loved spring and cherry blossom trees. We call it SAKURA.
It is a time of renewal when family and friends gather under the blooming cherry blossom tree to eat, drink and celebrate the coming of spring. Sakura season is so important for us that, every year, the Japan Meteorological Agency announces its cherry-blossom flowering forecast, which almost looks like the isobars on a weather map.

I wonder it is because of Japanese people long for the blossom front to move northward after the winter season. As in most countries, spring in Japan is the season to start agricultural work, a new school and workplace. Many people embark on a new chapter of their life under the pink hues of cherry blossom.

This time I would like to introduce Oakwood Apartments Shirokane. To access there, it takes about 3 minutes from exit 2 of Shirokanedai Station on Namboku Line. Our property has 36 apartments (Studio:40.0sqm, 1BD, 2 BD and 3 BD:104.7sqm), all very cozy and home like.

Although it is a small property, Oakwood Apartments Shirokane has received a high appraisal from our guests in 2008. We will continue to do our best to make our guests stay as comfortable and memorable as possible. There are many SAKURA spots around Oakwood Apartments Shirokane. We will be glad to show you around our property.

桜

こんにちは。オークウッドレジデンス青山とオークウッドアパートメンツ白金のハウスキーピングの渡辺です。

ここオークウッドレジデンス青山から徒歩10分の桜の名所「青山霊園」と、青山という名前の由来をご紹介いたします。

この青山霊園は、1872年に旧大名青山家の敷地300ｍ四方を公営墓地第一号として明治政府が定めたものです。青山大名家は、もともと東京から200キロ以上離れた岐阜に領地（本拠地）があったため、江戸時代が始まった1600年に徳川将軍に代々仕える譜代大名として認められたのを機にここを徳川将軍に与えられ、且つ仕えるための江戸（東京）での住まいだったのです。青山家も270年間続いた徳川家を支えた一大名だったのです。

最寄駅は銀座線「外苑前駅」出口１から徒歩5分です。桜の見頃は例年通り3月下旬で、230本の桜が南北を貫いています。見上げると一面の桜、まるで桜のトンネルです。朝の散歩やジョギングをしながら楽しむも良し、お昼休みにお弁当を食べながらめでるも良し、神秘的な夜桜に魅了されるのも良いですね！

SAKURA (Cherry Blossoms)

Hello, this is Tomoko, Housekeeping Manager for Oakwood Residence Aoyama and Oakwood Apartment Shirokane.

I would like to introduce one of the greatest national SAKURA spots “ AOYAMA REIEN (Cemetery)” which is located about 10-minute walking distance from Oakwood Residence Aoyama and hence the name Aoyama.

It was a grand house old site of feudal lord Mr. AOYAMA with 300 square-meter patch of land, and has been made and operated by the Meiji Government as the first public cemetery in 1872. Lord Aoyama was appointed to a hereditary lord by Tokugawa SHOGUN when Edo period starts in 1600, and AOYAMA REIEN was his house in Tokyo to serve Tokugawa SHOGUN. His main home was in GIFU, more than 200 km away from Edo(Tokyo). Various Lords Aoyama served the TOKUGAWA Shogun for 270 years.

To access there, it takes 5 minutes from exit 1 of GAIEN MAE station on Ginza Line. The best time to view SAKURA is the end of March, there are about 230 SAKURA trees through north and south in this cemetery. Please look up SAKURA, it is like a SAKURA tunnel. It is nice to go there walking and running in the morning, have a pick nick break with lunch box and enjoy the uncanny beauty of night SAKURA view.

オークウッドの歴史

今回のブログを担当します石川と申します。オークウッドレジデンス赤坂、オークウッドアパートメンツ六本木セントラルでハウスキーピングマネージャーを務めております。

私がオークウッドに入社したのは2002年2月でした。その年の2月15日にオークウッドアパートメンツ白金が、続いて3月1日にはオークウッドレジデンス青山がオープンし、この2物件の立ち上げに私も加わることとなりました。最近では2006年11月にオープンしたオークウッドアパートメンツ新宿の立ち上げにも参加しています。

オークウッドでは、３つのブランド（プレミア、レジデンス、アパートメンツ）ごとにスタンダードを設定し、それに基づいたサービスを提供いたしております。興味深いことに、サービスが共通でも、物件ごとに固有の雰囲気があるように感じます。

私が在籍するオークウッドレジデンス赤坂は、日本で最初にオープンしたオークウッドです。溜池山王の地下鉄出口から徒歩1-2分の距離にありながら、敷地内にはレンガ敷きの車寄せをそなえた、落ち着いたたたずまいの建物です。花壇には四季折々の花があふれ、通り過ぎる人の目を和ませてくれます。都心ではこのようなサービスアパートメントはめったいないのではないかと思います。

History of Oakwood in Japan

Greetings form Oakwood Residence Akasaka! My name is Fumiyo Ishikawa, Housekeeping Manager for Oakwood Residence Akasaka and Oakwood Apartments Roppongi Central.

I joined Oakwood in February 2002, and assisted the opening of Oakwood Apartments Shirokane (opened on 15 February 2002), and the opening of Oakwood Residence Aoyama (1 March 2002). Relatively recently, I was also involved in the opening of Oakwood Apartments Shinjuku (opened in November 2006).

Oakwood has three brands (Premier, Residence and Apartments), and each brand has its own standard of service. Even so, each property still has its own atmosphere.

Oakwood Residence Akasaka, where I am based, opened in 2000 as the first Oakwood property in Japan. It is located in the center of Tokyo, only 2-minute-walk away from Tameike-Sanno Station. And once you step into the premises, you will be surprised to see seasonal flower in the garden and the wide driveway paved with reddish bricks. It is a highly unique serviced apartment in Tokyo that we are proud of.

オークウッドの認知度を上げる、私どもが常に心掛けていることの1つです。

その一環としてメディアへのPR活動（宣伝・広告等）があります。一言で宣伝や広告といっても、雑誌やウェブサイトへの掲載、パーティーやイベントの催し及び参加、スポンサー等、活動範囲は広くに渡っています。

To increase the recognition of Oakwood; it is one of the things that we all keep in mind while working.

Advertisement and commercials are part of the promotional activities. It includes advertisement in magazines as well as web sites, coordinating with parties or events, sponsorship in external events, etc.

We set up campaigns and rate plans analyzing the guest needs, put effort into (design, amenities, cleaning) to make relaxing atmosphere, plan parties and events for guests to enjoy, advertise in popular magazines; this is all an expression of our feeling that we want our guests to taste the friendliness of Oakwood and enjoy with us! Oakwood has 3 brands here in Japan; Premier, Residence, Apartments, and we promote each property regarding its characteristics.

When we hear guest complementation that they had a wonderful time at Oakwood, it makes us feel very proud and happy that we are able to work as a team of Oakwood. ネットワーキングイベント

こんにちは。今回から3回にわたってブログを担当させていただきます、オークウッドプレミア東京ミッドタウンの平山です。

先日、オークウッドプレミア東京ミッドタウンのラウンジにて、オークウッドと他3社の提携によるTokyo Premier Connectionのソーシャル・ネットワーキングイベントが開催されました。各々から招待されたお客様が東京各地から集結し、普段接する機会の少ない様々な業界の方々との会話を楽しみ、食事と飲み物を片手に太鼓のエンターテイメントや抽選会も行なわれました。総勢約150名様が集まり、イベントは大成功に終わりました。

このように、ここオークウッドプレミア東京ミッドタウンのラウンジは多くのイベントに利用されることが多く、様々な人たちのつながりをサポートしてまいりました。事前に打ち合わせ等を行なうコーディネーター、表でサポートさせていただくフロントやクローク、会場のセッティングからお料理やお飲み物を提供させていただくラウンジや厨房、会場でのお客様とのやり取りやショールームへご案内させていただくセールス；1つ1つのイベントの成功の裏にはたくさんのスタッフのサポートが隠れております。私共スタッフ一同は、1つ1つのイベントが成功し、お客様がみな満足されて帰られるのを何よりの喜びと感じ、誇りを持って働いております。

Networking Event

Hello. My name is Sachiko Hirayama from Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown and I will be in charge of the next 3 blog entries.

We had a big social networking event “Tokyo Premier Collections” at our Lounge the other day.
We created this event where business people, Japanese and foreigners from different fields and industries in Tokyo can meet and enjoy food, drinks and entertainment. Approximately 150 people gathered from all over Tokyo, and enjoyed the opportunities to meet people who usually do not meet. Oakwood was proud to be associated with 3 sponsors to have this event end as a big success.

The lounge here at Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown is used for many events and has been supporting many networks and relationships among people. Coordinators who prepare and consult for the event beforehand, Customer Service and Cloak who help aggressively, Lounge and Cooks who helps setup the lounge as well as serving drinks and food to the guests, Sales who deal with guest show rooms; each event is supported by many of our staffs, more than you can imagine. We are very confident and happy to serve all guests to have the events end as a great success.

青山の青空

「青山」という地名を聞いて、あなたは何を連想されますか。世界の一流ブランドの路面店、著名なシェフが腕をふるうシックなレストラン、または国内外から厳選された食材を扱う高級スーパーなどでしょうか。

毎朝、私は通勤のためこのエリアに通っていますが、地下鉄の駅から地上に出て、青山通り沿いにキラー通り（外苑西通り）に向かって歩いていると、なんとなくほっとします。歩道は広く清潔で、通勤の人々に混じって、犬を散歩させる人や幼稚園や保育園に向かう親子、ジョギング中の人などとすれ違います。

交差点で信号待ちをするとき、私の頭上には大きな空が広がります。オークウッドレジデンス青山のあるキラー通り沿いは案外と高層ビルが少ないのでしょうか、毎日空の色と大きさをはっきりと感じることができます。

洗練された都会の顔を持ちながら、季節のうつろいとそこに住む人々の息づかいとが感じられる、「地に足のついた」街。それが私が青山について抱くイメージです。オークウッドレジデンス青山のスタッフのひとりとして、ご滞在くださるお客様にこの地域のよさを満喫していただけるよう、力を尽くしたいと思います。

Something unique about Aoyama

What image would you have about the area called “Aoyama”? Elegant shops of international luxury brands? Expensive restaurants featuring famous chefs? Or luxurious supermarket selling exclusive items from all over the world?

Personally, I find Aoyama as a little more relaxing place. Every morning, when I walk to my office at Oakwood Residence Aoyama from the subway station, I see people walking with their pets, jogging and taking their children to kindergarten. The sidewalk is wide and always clean, which is not necessarily the case in other areas in Tokyo

When I stop at the traffic lights, I always look up the sky. Perhaps not so many skyscrapers are in our neighborhood, because the sky is just as wide as it should be, even though I am standing in the middle of Tokyo. It has different colors depending on the weather and season, which interests me so much.

In my view, Aoyama is absolutely sophisticated, but at the same time, it is a realistic place where you can comfortably live your own daily life. And I would like our guests to take advantage of staying in such a particular neighborhood.

お客様の善意

はじめまして。オークウッドレジデンス青山の渡辺と申します。今回から3回、ブログを担当させていただきます。

赤坂、青山、白金にあるオークウッドのフロントには、ユニセフの募金箱を置いています。チェックアウトなさるお客様が余った日本円の小銭を入れてくださることにより、この箱は数ヶ月でいっぱいになり、貯まった募金は郵便局を経て日本ユニセフ協会に送られます。

日本ユニセフ協会のホームページによると、この募金箱から集まる募金は年間数千万円に上るそうです。2人の子供の母親として、私は、内戦や貧困の犠牲となる世界の子供たちに思いを寄せずにはいられません。オークウッドのお客様の善意が形となって世界の子供たちに届くことをうれしく思います。

Small but meaningful contribution

My name is Makiko. I work for the General Manager for Oakwood properties in Akasaka, Aoyama, Shirokane and Roppongi Central.

If you stay at Oakwood in Akasaka, Aoyama or Shirokane, you will find a blue UNICEF donation box at the Front Desk. We “rent” the box from UNICEF to play the role of being one of the gateways for individuals who wish to make some contribution to the organization.

Departing guests often notice the box and kindly put some Japanese coins there. They know that in many cases, they end up with not using small changes in Yen while they are in Japan, and therefore, they rather wish to use it for something meaningful. The blue box is usually filled up in several months, and the money will be forwarded straight to Japan Committee for UNICEF via near-by post office.

According to the website of Japan Committed for UNICEF, the total amount of donation through donation boxes at shops and facilities like us is as much as tens of millions of yen per year. Being a mother of two boys, I personally cannot help thinking about children around the world who are under totally different circumstances from ours in Japan. And it is a pleasure to know that our guests’ acts of good will actually form parts of such huge contribution.

Art & Living

こんにちは、オークウッドプレミア東京ミッドタウンの中村です。

現在オークウッドプレミア東京ミッドタウンのラウンジでは「Art & Living」というイベントとして、世界的に活躍されている武藤順九さんの彫刻作品を展示しています。

武藤さんの「風の環」シリーズの作品は、２０００年にバチカン史上初の抽象彫刻として夏の宮殿、カスデルガンドルフォへ永久設置され、その後、仏教の聖地、インド・ブッダガヤ世界遺産、アメリカ・ワイオミング州にあるネイティブアメリカンの聖地デビルズタワーへも永久設置されています。そして２０１０年にはニューヨーク・グラウンドゼロへ９・１１平和モニュメントとして設置計画されているそうです。

芸術にうとい私ですが、初めてラウンジに展示された作品を見たときは、大理石のなめらかさ、そして全体の曲線美に見とれてしまいました。通常、このような彫刻作品は美術館やギャラリーで見る事が多く、その場合は作品が際立つような、他に何もない空間の場合が多いと思います。今回は「Art & Living」
という通り、住空間の中にある彫刻作品をお楽しみいただけます。

日常の暮らしの中に作品（アート）がさりげなくいつもある。何だか心が豊かになりますね。

Hello! It is Maki again.

Currently, the exhibition called “Art & Living” is held at the lounge of Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown with the sculptures by Mr. Junkyu Muto who is a world-class artist/sculptor.

One of his work called “Wind Circle” series was dedicated to Papal summer villa, Castel Gandolfo, and permanently installed there. After that, the series was installed at Boddha Gaya, a World Heritage site, in India there is sacred to the Buddhists and at Devils Tower in Wyoming, USA where is sacred to Native Americans. In addition, his “Circle Wind” series is planned to be installed at Ground Zero in New York as a monument to peace.

I am not familiar with art, however, I took in the beautiful curvy shape and smooth texture of marble when I saw the sculptures in the lounge first. Normally those kind of sculptures are exhibited at museums or galleries where is simple space to make these works stand-out. At “Art & Living” exhibition, you can enjoy and feel the spirit of the sculptures within our living environment.

“Art in our daily life” warms our hearts.

サービスアパートメントの楽しみ方

皆さま、こんにちは！
今週のブログを担当します、オークウッドプレミア東京ミッドタウンの中村と申します。

オークウッドに入社して早いもので６年が過ぎました。ホテルでの経験を経て、もっとゆったりと接客できる環境を求めオークウッドへ入社した私ですが、入社時の面接で「サービスアパートメントとは何ですか？」と聞いてしまったほど、私自身、ホテルと住宅、そしてサービスアパートメントの違いを何も知りませんでした。この２・３年でサービスアパートメントの認知度も、私が入社した頃よりも高まってはきていると思いますが、この便利で快適な「住まう・滞在する」ための新しい選択肢をもっと多くの皆さまに知っていただけたらと思っております！

個人的にも海外へ行く時は、ホテルよりも広々としていて、プライベート感もあり、なおかつ便利で親身なサービスが受けられるサービスアパートメントを選ぶようになりました。「トランク一つで新しい生活がすぐに始められる」がコンセプトのサービスアパートメント。ご存知だと思いますが、家具はもちろん、最新の家電、そしてお皿から調理器具までお部屋には揃っています。近くのスーパーマーケットで現地の食材を購入してお料理も楽しめますし、外食や買い物をする時はフロントスタッフに聞けばお勧めのお店を教えてくれます。何よりも滞在している街に「住んでいる」という感覚が生まれるのが楽しいですよね。

先日も今大人気の韓国へ行ってきたのですが、オークウッドプレミア・コエックス・ソウルへ滞在してきました。地下鉄の乗り方や乗り継ぎ、オススメ最新スポットなど、フロントやコンシェルジュスタッフに教えてもらうこともでき、ガイドブックとは違う楽しみ方もできました。

屋台やレストランでの外食も楽しかったですが、歩き疲れてデパ地下でお惣菜を買って、お部屋に戻りお茶をいれながらゆっくりと楽しんだり、早起きして朝食を食べるのが面倒であれば、部屋着のまま前日にスーパーで買ってきたパンやフルーツを食べることもできます。（女性にとってはホテルで朝食を食べに行くのも身支度が必要ですよね！）またスーパーで食材を購入したのですが、パッケージに書いてある作り方はもちろん全部ハングルだったので、フロントスタッフに簡単に説明してもらい、おいしいチヂミを作ることもできました！

何よりもうれしかったのは、洗濯乾燥機がお部屋にあることです。持っていく衣類も少なくて済むため最小限の荷物で行けば、その分買い物しても安心で、スーツケースに乗っかって必死に詰め込む心配もありません。・・・でも・・・もしかしたら余裕がある分もっと買い物してしまうかもしれません！それも旅の醍醐味ですね。

海外だけではなく、日本でもオークウッドプレミア東京ミッドタウンに滞在し、映画や美術館めぐりを楽しんだり、オークウッドレジデンス青山では表参道・青山エリアで最新ファッションのチェックをしたり、オークウッドアパートメンツ新宿で買い物を楽しんだりと、日常と違う生活を少しの間満喫するのも楽しいのではないでしょうか？

Hello! This is Maki Nakamura from Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown and it’s my turn to write blogs this week.

It has been already 6 years since I joined Oakwood. How quickly the time goes! After working in the hotel industry, I decided to join Oakwood, the Service Apartment concept to be able to work in an environment gearing towards a more personalized service. At that time, I had no knowledge of the serviced apartment concept and the differences between a hotel and Serviced Apartments so, in my first interview I asked the General Manager, “What is Serviced Apartment?”

However, there has been more recognition about this concept gained in the past few years. However, I would like more people to know how convenient and comfortable in choosing this lifestyle option.

My personal preference in my travel overseas is definitely a service apartment by choice for it’s convenience, spacious living and warm hospitality in a causal atmosphere created by the associates and other resident’s.

The concept of serviced apartment is “You can start a new life only with a suitcase”. As you may know, it is all furnished with the up-to-date electric appliances, dishes, cutlery and everything you need is at your fingertips. You can enjoy cooking with locally purchased in the neighborhood markets adding to the feel of “AT HOME”

Last month, I traveled to Seoul, Korea which is the current most popular destination and stayed at Oakwood Premier Coex Center. The Front desk and Concierge staff kindly helped me with all essential information such as subway instruction, area information and places of recommended sightseeing spots to enjoy the city with attractions not found in the normal travel guidebooks.

I enjoyed eating at various local restaurants or street stalls but I also enjoyed my dinner in my apartment with buying some deli at the department stores after being exhausted in all-day shopping. Or I could have breakfast with some breads or fruits from local grocery store when I didn’t feel like getting up early. (For ladies, we have to get dressed well even for breakfast when we stay at hotels!) Or the package of cooking ingredient which I bought from a supermarket was all in Korean. I asked front desk to help me to translate how to cook, and I was able to cook nice Korean pancake!!

What I found convenient more than anything else was washer and dryer in the apartment. Less wardrobe makes your luggage minimum and you could enjoy shopping. You don’t have to get on your suitcase to manage to close it! ……….but……….you might buy more to fill the extra space!!

Not only the property overseas, but also you can stay at Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown and enjoy movies and museums around. Or staying at Oakwood Residence Aoyama and enjoy checking the latest fashion scene in Aoyama/Omotesando area. Or maybe staying at Oakwood Apartments Shinjuku and enjoy shopping at the major department stores in the areas…… You can experience the different lifestyles in the different parts of Tokyo.

パリでの新年

皆さん、新年明けましておめでとうございます。
今回ブログを担当します、セールスマネージャーのローナ・ロウです。
お正月休みはいかがお過ごしになられましたでしょうか。

私はここ数年、お正月は母親が住んでいるパリへ戻り家族と過ごしております。
今回は、クリスマスには間に合いませんでしたが少なくとも新年をパリで迎えることができました。
１２月のパリはとても寒く、雨が続き風が一層と町全体を冷ややかにしますが、これがまた私のムードにあっており、新年を両親と過ごすことができとても嬉しく感じました。

クリスマスからお正月にかけてのパリはいっそう輝き、年越しの日には家族と素敵なディナーへ出かけたり、お気に入りのバーにでかけたり、またシャンパンやホットワインを片手に友達と談笑するなどイベントごとも盛りだくさんです。

年の瀬の１2月３１日はカウントダウンをするために家族との食事のあと、パーティーの中心地、エッフェル塔が最も良く見える場所、そして花火大会があるシャンゼリゼ通りに向かいました。カウントダウンでは皆がシャンパンの栓を抜き、キスをし（フランスの慣習）新年を祝っていました。

またフランスでは１月1日に、友達や家族と今年の抱負を語り、カードやプレゼントを交換します。
私の今年の抱負は、“お客様のニーズ、期待にこたえ最適なお部屋を提供していくこと”です。

皆さんもご存知の通り、今年は丑年です！丑は一獲千金など狙わず一生懸命働き努力を惜しみません。皆さん、２００９年は我慢強くいきましょう！
今年も宜しく御願い致します。

How do I celebrate New Year? Returning home, to Paris, where my mother live have indeed become routine during the past years and it is part of my family tradition.

Unlike the past years, I arrived in Paris a day later, after Christmas day. .” Better Late than Never” as long as I made it back home for at least to celebrate New Year Eve and New Year with the family will make my parents happy.

December in Paris is generally cold, and often rainy or icy. The Wind chill can make the city even frostier but it suited my mood and I am glad I was there at least to spent New Year Eve and New Year days with my family.

As Christmas oozed into New Year, not only is the city so brighten up but cheerful but with plenty of exciting palaces to celebrate New Year’s Eve, from top-notch dining with family and loved ones or a simple casual bar or restaurant for a glass of champagne, hot wine (Vin chaud) with friends.

On New Year Eve and right after a tradition dinner with my family, I headed to The Champs-Elysees, a place where you could be at the centre of the party, the best view of Eiffel Tower and some major fireworks displays. Uncork the champagne and countdown to the New Year, Bonne Annee in the warmth of a crowd .As midnight stroke everyone kisses under the mistletoe, le gui( New Year Custom in France) and offers their best wishes for the new year.

On New Year’s Day, le Jour l’An, friends and family share their New Year’s resolution, une bonne resolution, exchange cards and gifts. As for me, the 2009 New Year’s resolution will be; able to better provide you with the very best solutions for your housing needs that exceed your expectations.

クリスマスシーズン

皆様、こんにちは。
今回Blogを担当します、営業の谷口美香です。

いよいよクリスマスシーズンは最終章、本番を迎えるだけになりましたね。
街のイルミネーションを見る度に、故郷の札幌を思い出します。懐かしくてちょっぴり寂しい、私にとってクリスマスはちょっとセンチメンタルな季節です。

さて、ここオークウッドレジデンス麻布十番でも先週、クリスマスパーティーを行いました。
11月に麻布十番オフィスに異動してきた私にとっては、ご滞在中のお客様と直に触れ合うことが出来る初めての場でした。お客様の中には、たくさんのお子様もいらっしゃって、みんなでオードブルを囲い、ワインを飲み、一足早くとても楽しいクリスマスを過ごすことができました。

そのパーティーの中でその日を最後にオークウッドを去ってしまうことになった、オークウッドレジデンス麻布十番のカスタマーサービス・鈴木さやかさんのサプライズお別れ会も行いました。
彼女はこの会社で唯一の私の同期入社で、一緒に新入社員研修に参加した日を今でも覚えています。歳もほぼ一緒なので、仕事後にプライベートで遊んだことも懐かしく思います。いつも明るく、ひまわりのように笑顔いっぱいで、お客様方からも愛されていた彼女がオークウッドを去ってしまうのは大変寂しいですが、来年もみんなで一丸となってアットホームな日本の古き良き伝統いっぱいのこのオークウッドレジデンス麻布十番を益々盛り上げていこうと思っています。

にしても。。。やっぱり今年も、ちょっぴり切ないクリスマス。
本番当日は楽しく盛り上がって行きたいと思います！

Hello everyone!
My name is Mika Taniguchi, Sales Executive at Oakwood and this is my first posting on this blog.

We have finally reached the last chapter of the Christmas season and the big day is coming soon!
The Christmas street illuminations remind me of my hometown of Sapporo a lot. They bring back old memories and also make me miss home. This time of the year actually makes me feel a little sentimental.

Oakwood Residence Azabujyuban held a Christmas party last week.
This was a first chance for me to share time with the residents from this property as I had recently been transferred from another office back in November. All the residents’ children came to the party and we all had a wonderful Christmas as we gathered around food and drinks.

As part of this event we also had a farewell party for Sayaka Suzuki, Customer Service Representative, who had left the company on the same day.
Sayaka and I joined this company in the same year. I still remember the day we went to the new employee orientation together more than 3 years ago. We are almost the same age and I have good personal memories of spending time with her after work. Sayaka is a very cheerful girl who is loved by our customers as well as all of us. Although we regret to see her leaving, we will continue to provide our best for 2009 and keep on carrying on the good old traditions of Oakwood Residence Azabujyuban.

Hmm, it sounds like another sentimental Christmas for me again…but I am looking forward to having good fun on Christmas Day!

Oakwood x Esquire Magazine Christmas Party

はじめまして。今週ブログを担当します、営業の友村です。

私のオフィスがありますオークウッドプレミア東京ミッドタウンのラウンジは、都内にありますオークウッド８物件の中で一番広く、
通常はレジデント（入居者）の方のプライベートラウンジですが、定期的にレジデント向けのパーティーや、イベントも行われます。

今回は、１２月４日に東京ミッドタウンのラウンジで行われた、「オークウッド」と「エスクァイア　マガジン　ジャパン」によるクリスマスパーティーを
ご紹介させて頂きます。

Hello, my name is Hiroko Tomomura from Oakwood's sales department.
I will update Oakwood blog this week. ( This is First time to write Blog in my Life !!)

My Office is in Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown property and there is most luxury and spacious lounge in our 8 properties in Tokyo.
We have parties for Oakwood Residents regularly, and several special events in there.

This time, I would like to introduce the Christmas Party held on December 4 in collaboration with the magazine “ESQUIRE”.

We had more than 300 guests from Oakwood, Esquires Magazines, and sponsors (Suntory, Mercedes-Benz Japan, and Wasara).

They had enjoyed early Christmas party at our lounge viewing Christmas illuminations of Midtown and nice food on Wasara dishes and drinks.
Also there were the live Jazz performance by the famous Japanese artist “Aiko”, testing of Suntory whiskeys, Display of the top-of-the-line luxury car “Mybach”, and lottery with gorgeous presents etc…and they made boost the party mood a lot !!

I hope we can introduce Oakwood to more people through our future events.

クリスマス・ツリーの撤去日

こんにちは！再びオークウッドレジデンス青山の岩本　円（いわもと　まどか）です。

オークウッドレジデンス青山でも無事クリスマスツリーの飾りつけが終わりました。　ところで皆さんは、クリスマスツリーをいつ撤去しますか？　私の家ではいつもお正月の飾りつけの前には撤去してます。おそらく大多数の日本人の家庭ではそうでないでしょうか？！　

６年前にオークウッドレジデンス青山のレセプションデスクで勤務してたとき、クリスマスが終わったので、早速１２月２６日にクリスマスツリーの飾りを撤去しました。そうしたところ上司に怒られ再度、飾りを戻したことがあります。実はクリスマスツリーの撤去は１月６日だそうです。よって新年は“クリスマスツリー”と“お正月のお飾り”が同時にあるわけです。　

オークウッドではクリスマスの余韻を残しながら新年を向かえます。ぜひ近くにお越しの際は、入口のお正月のお飾り、ラウンジではクリスマスツリーを堪能することができるのでお気軽にお立ち寄り下さい！

Removing the Christmas Tree

Hello everyone! This is Madoka again.

We have recently decorated the Christmas tree at Oakwood Residence Aoyama. Since we are on this subject, when do you remove your Christmas tree? At my house we usually remove it right before the oshogatsu decorations come in. Actually, I believe this would be the case in most Japanese households.

However, when I used to work at the Front Office six years ago, I once got in trouble with my boss for removing the tree right after Christmas on December 26. I learned from this experience that the tree should not be removed from our residence until January 6th. As a result, the New Year starts with the Christmas tree and oshogatsu decorations.

At Oakwood, the New Year festivities bask in the afterglow of the Christmas season. Please feel free to come by during this time of the year to enjoy the oshogatsu decorations at our main entrance and the Christmas tree in our Residents’ Lounge!

結婚式！

こんにちは! 今週のBlogエントリーを担当させていただきます、オークウッドレジデンス青山のセールスエグゼクティブの岩本　円（いわもと　まどか）です。

先日、青山のフロントオフィススーパーバイザーの杉山美奈子（すぎやま　みなこ）さんが横浜で１１月２３日に結婚されました。青山一、美人の美奈子さんの結婚式、披露宴に皆で行ってきました。とても綺麗な美奈子さんをご覧下さい！！　披露宴はアメリカからの歌手の方も参加して皆で踊って大変盛り上がりました。　

１０月にフロントオフィスマネージャーの大越　玉貴さん（おおこし　たまき）さんがご結婚され、最近の青山は“結婚”が続いてます！　次は誰の番か楽しみです。

Wedding Ceremony

Hello! My name is Madoka Iwamoto, Sales Executive at Oakwood Residence Aoyama and I will be posting on this blog this time and next time.

On November 23rd, Minako Sugiyama, Front Office Supervisor from Aoyama, just got married at Yokohama. My colleagues and I went to attend the wedding ceremony of who we consider to be the most beautiful girl in our office. See for yourself in the pictures! The ceremony was a lot of fun and even included a performance from a guest singer from the USA.

It seems that our office is experiencing a series of weddings as last October our Front Office Manager Tamaki Okoshi recently got married as well. It will be interesting to see who will be next!

My Trip to the World Championships.

This is Keren again, the General Manager of four Oakwood properties in Tokyo: Oakwood Residence Aoyama, Oakwood Residence Akasaka, Oakwood Apartments Shirokane, and Oakwood Apartments Roppongi Central.

こんにちは。オークウッドレジデンス青山、オークウッドレジデンス赤坂、オークウッドアパートメンツ白金、オークウッドアパートメンツ六本木セントラルの総支配人を務めるケレンです。

As I have mentioned on this blog, I like to race in triathlons in my spare time when I am not working for Oakwood. On November 8th I was lucky to be able to compete in the 2008 Ironman 70.3 World Championships triathlon in Florida, U.S.A. Here is my race report from the race.

以前にも書いたように、私の趣味はトライアスロンです。去る11月8日、米国フロリダで、2008年アイアンマン70.3トライアスロン世界選手権が開催されたのですが、私は幸運にもこの大会に参加することができました。今回のブログではこのレースの報告をしたいと思います。

Beautiful Clearwater Beach http://www.clearwaterbeach.com/gallery.php, often voted as America’s best beach, on the Gulf Coast of Florida was the venue for the 2008 Ironman 70.3 World Championships triathlon on November 8th. Ironman 70.3 events consist of a 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run, or a total of 70.3 miles. This year there were 22 Ironman 70.3 qualifying races held around the world and I was lucky to qualify for Clearwater by virtue of my second place finish in the Male 45 to 49 age group at the Singapore 70.3 race in September. This was only the third time that these championships have been held and this race is yet to achieve the storied history of the sport’s most famous race, the Hawaiian Ironman (Kona). But when I surprised myself by qualifying for these championships in Singapore, I immediately decided to go as may not ever get another chance.

今年のトライアスロン世界選手権の開催地となったクリアウオーター・ビーチ（http://www.clearwaterbeach.com/gallery.php）は、フロリダ州のメキシコ湾岸にあります。大変美しいビーチで、アメリカのベスト・ビーチとして名が挙がることもしばしばです。「アイアンマン70.3」とは、スイム1.9km、バイク90km、ラン21.1kmの合計70.3マイルから成る競技の総称です。今年は世界で合計22の「アイアンマン70.3」大会が開催され、そのうちのひとつである9月のシンガポール大会で、45歳―49歳男性の部で2位を収めたことにより、私は世界選手権への切符を手にしたのでした。実は、世界大会は今年がまだ3回目で、有名なハワイアン（コナ）・アイアンマン・レースほど歴史のあるものではありません。しかし自分にとっては一生に一度あるかないかのチャンス、これは行くしかないと即決したのでした。

Another bonus is that this is my wife Yukie-san’s favorite part of the world where she studied English and still has many friends. Since we have been married she has continually reminded me that up until our wedding in 2001 that she would go to Florida every year to visit her friends. As this was the first time that she has ever been happy about me doing well in a triathlon, we both had to go to Florida. This was my first trip to Florida.
これは私の妻ゆきえにとって願ってもない朗報でした。もともとフロリダで英語を学んだ彼女には、今も多くの友人が現地にいるのです。2001年に結婚して以来、私は彼女から毎年「今年こそフロリダに行きたい」と言われ続けてきました。レースでの勝利をこれほど喜んでくれたのは初めてだったと思います（笑）。ともかくこうした訳で、私にとっては初めての、妻にとっては念願の、フロリダ行きとなりました。

I had a lot of fun at the race and during our time in Florida. I finished the race in a time of 5:02:12, which was my Personal Best time by 9:21 minutes. So I was very happy! My overall placing was 863 out of 1254 who started the race and I was 86th out of 107 in the male 45 - 49 age group. You can see that I am very fast, but I am still inside the top 100 in the world in my age group. And of course as this was the World Championships, the best triathletes in the world were at the race. They came from North or South America, South Africa, Europe, Australia and from Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea and other places in Asia. It was great for me to be a part of these World Championships.

結果的に、レースもフロリダ滞在もとても充実したものとなりました。記録は5時間2分12秒で、これまでの自己ベストを9分21秒も上回るものとなり、本当にうれしい限りです。これは参加1，254名中863位、45－49歳男性107名の中では86位の記録です。この世代に限ってみれば、世界のトップ100に入れたというわけです。このレースは世界選手権ですから、北米・南米、南アフリカ、ヨーロッパ、オーストラリア、日本、シンガポール、香港、韓国などから第一級のトップアスリートたちが参加していました。そういった選手と競い合えたことは私にとってすばらしい経験でした。

It is now time for me to take a well deserved rest from racing over winter and to enjoy the upcoming Christmas parties and the end of year bonekai parties. I will host a Christmas party for the residents of my four Oakwoods on December 5th. This is sure to be a fun night for the all of the residents.

演劇

演劇

本日は私が趣味でやっている素人劇団の公演が12月にありますのでこの場をかりて宣伝させて頂きます。

ぺんぺん劇団というこの素人劇団が創立されて今年で20年になります。変わり者の集まりで年齢はどちらかというと高めの男だけの劇団です。毎年、現代物と和物を交互にやっております。

今年の演目は”地獄の花園Part2"という出し物で、歌舞伎町のショーパプで10周年記念のパーティーの日に巻き起こるスタッフと踊り子と元踊り子たちとの間で巻き起こるドタバタをお届けいたします。

もちろん素人劇団の演劇ですから、テクニックとかビジュアルとかを期待されては困りますがそれなりに面白いものができあがりましたので、もし、お時間と興味がある方はお知らせ下さい！

Let me advertise about my hobby on this blog.

I take part in an amateur theatrical company called “”Penpen Gekidan” that will perform a show in December. “Penpen Gakidan” was established 20 years ago. The performers are all eccentric and middle-aged men. We alternate the themes between modern and traditional Japanese.

The title of this year’s performance is “the Garden from Hell, Part 2”. The story will revolve around the 10 year anniversary party of a pub in Kabuki-cho with the staff and the dancers excitedly celebrating.

Please do not expect too much professional acting performance and advanced visual content as we are all amateurs. However, I believe the performance will be entertaining so please let me know if you would be interested in seeing it!

オークウッド青山セールスチーム

今回は皆さんに青山のセールスチームメンバーを紹介したいと思います。

青山のセールスチームメンバーはオークウッドでの勤務年数が長いスタッフが多く、私を除く全員がオークウッドプロパティーでカスタマーサービスを経験しております。

まず、私は2002年2月にオークウッドレジデンス青山、オークウッドアパートメント白金の開業時に入社し営業部にてADOS(Assistant Director of Sales)としてチームの舵取りをしております。

次に年長順（実際の年はいえませんが）に紹介しますと、

岩本円さん、彼女も私と同様に青山・白金の開業メンバーの一人でCSRを担当し、六本木セントラルのCSR　Supervisorの経験の後、青山のチームに加わって約1年半になります。

綱木弥生さん、彼女は3年前に青山へCSRとして入社し、約1年半のフロント業務を経てセールスとして約2年近くになります。

桝田俊介さん、彼はオークウッドレジデンス麻布十番のCSRとして入社し、オークウッドレジデンス六本木ティーキューブのCSRを経て、今はマーケティングオフィサーを担当して約1年となります。

田嶋良帆さん、彼女は2002年2月入社で青山のCSRを経験後、一旦退社した後に青山・白金のセールスコーディネーターとして我々を助けてくれています。

最後に、大羽晴子さん、彼女は麻布十番にて約5年に渡りCSRとして従事し、この11月に青山のセールスコーディネーターとして新たにチームに加わってくれました。

このようなチームメンバー一同で皆様からのオークウッドについてのご質問お問い合わせに対応させていただきます。

I would like to introduce Aoyama Sales Team members.

All our members except myself have been with Oakwood for many years and have worked as Customer Service Representatives for the Oakwood properties in Tokyo.

Well, let let me introduce the members now.
First of all, about myself. I joined Oakwood at the time of openings of Oakwood Residence Aoyama and Oakwood Apartments Shirokane in February, 2002 as a Sales Manager. I am now managing the team as ADOS.

Next, according to seniority (though I cannot say the real age…):

• Madoka Iwamoto - she was a member of the opening team at Aoyama and Shirokane like myself. She started as a Customer Service Representative (CSR) and became a Front Office Supervisor at Oakwood Apartments Roppongi Central before joining the Sales Team as a Sales Executive one and a half years ago.

• Yayoi Tsunaki - she joined Oakwood Residence Aoyama as a CSR 3 years ago. She experienced front office duties for about 1 and a half years and became a Sales Executive since 2 years ago.

• Shunsuke Masuda - he worked as a CSR at Oakwood Residence Azabujyuban and Oakwood Residence Roppongi T-Cube. Now he is in charge of the marketing analysis for the entire Oakwood Sales Team for nearly 1 year.

• Ryoho Tajima - she was also a member of the opening team at Oakwood Residence Aoyama and worked as a CSR for 3 years. She once left the company for several months and came back as a Sales Coordinator.

• Haruko Oba – she had 5 years of experience as a CSR at Oakwood Residence Azabujyuban and recently joined the Sales Team as a Sales Coordinator.

仕事終了後

先日仕事が終わってから、みんなとお好み焼きを食べにいきましたので、お店の紹介と青山のスタッフのことを書きたいと思います。

青山のスタッフは美味しいお店を見つけると、何かの会のときにそのお店に行くように計画をたてるところがあります。今回は急にお好み焼きが食べたいと意見が一致して、予約をしていきました。その段取りはいつも早く、決めたらすぐに行動に移しています。

場所は恵比寿の西口から徒歩２～３分のところにあるお好み焼きさんに行きました。2時間制の飲み放題で、みんなものすごい勢いで食べて飲んで楽しみました。

食後は終電前までカラオケに行き、踊って歌って次の日の活力にしています。

いつも仲がいい青山スタッフの一面がご紹介できたかと思います。

After work

We went to Okonomiyaki restaurant the other day with staff from Aoyama after work so I would like to introduce about this thing.

Once we found really good restaurant, we always make a plan to go one of them. This time, we suddenly decided to go to Okonomiyaki restaurant and everyone agree about this and we made a reservation. Once we decided to go, it took only a few seconds to reserve the table. This arrangement is as usual for us.

This restaurant is located in Ebisu and leaves the station by the west exit and 2 to 3 minutes walk away. It was 2-hour unlimited drink with food and we did it so fast however we really enjoyed to be there.

We also go to Karaoke after that and we dance and sing. It will help to get high energy for next day.

I think that I could introduce that all Aoyama staff are always get close each other.

ハロウィーン

皆さんこんにちは。
今回初めてブログを書きます、営業の綱木です。

今日は先日金曜日に行われました、オークウッドレジデンス青山でのハロウィンパーティーのことを書きたいと思います。

最近は他のプロパティーのゲストも一緒に、レジデンスの外で季節に合わせてのテーマでパーティーが行われていました。今回は、久々のレジデンスでのパーティーで、普段お子様と一緒でなかなか外でのパーティーに参加できないお客様もいらっしゃって楽しい時間が過ごせました。営業をしていると、滞在されている全てのお客様に会うことはできないので、このようなパーティーで話せる機会があり大変うれしく思っています。

青山は比較的ご家族連れでの滞在が多いため、家族ぐるみでお客様同士も仲がいいのが特徴です。パーティーでは子供たちが主役になっていて、可愛い仮装をしている子供たちとその笑顔に元気をもらい癒されました。

レジデンスごとにパーティーを主催してくれてる、カスタマーサービスの皆さんいつもお疲れ様です。次回は今年最後のクリスマスパーティーです。

Hello everyone! This is my first time to write a blog. I’m Yayoi Tsunaki from Sales Department at Oakwood Residence Aoyama.

Today, I’d like to talk about the Halloween party at Oakwood Residence Aoyama and it held on last Friday.

Recently, we hold on the event for every season at outside of residence with guest from other property and some of them didn’t have a chance to join with children. However this time we held a party at Residence in a while so we had happy time. This is good opportunity for sales people to meet with them otherwise we may not see them at all.

Relatively, we have families at Aoyama so they became their families to get together. All the children dressed in cute costumes and get a leads of this party. We feel comforted from their smile.

We thank you to all customer services who hosted these events with good work all the time.
The last event of this year will be Christmas time.

Oakwood Premier Coex Center

昨年６月に続き、今年の８月にも韓国にあるオークウッドプレミア　コエックスセンターを訪問しました。韓国の同僚と会い、現地のオペレーションを視察することができ、また、韓国・東京・その他の国にある私共のすばらしい施設を利用する韓国のお客様にお礼をする機会にもなりました。

現地の同僚からのもてなしとして、おいしい韓国式焼肉への招待がありました。話も盛り上がり、カラオケナイトとなりました。韓国の方は東京の流行スポットに関しての知識もすごいですが、箱根温泉に行きたい方が多いというのには驚きました。

海外に出張する機会を与えてくれたオークウッドに感謝をしています。是非他のスタッフも海外のオークウッドを訪問して、国際的なチームワークを強めることができたらいいと思っています。

In June 2007 and August 2008, I would like to share an experience to our property Oakwood Premier Coex Center in Seoul, Korea. I was able to meet and observe our colleagues and operations in Korea. Also, I took a chance to thank our Korean corporate clients in attracting interests to our stunning locations in Korea, Tokyo and abroad.

On another note, I would like to talk about the delicious Korean barbeque I was able to be a part of as a welcoming gift from our colleagues in Korea. We laughed and went to karaoke in a cultural sharing night on the town. I was surprised in the local knowledge of Tokyo’s hotspots, but also, was more tickled that my colleagues and clients wanted to travel to Hakone Onsen.

All and all, I would like to thank Oakwood for the opportunity to travel abroad to Korea. I recommend that it is a good idea for other persons from our staff to take advantage of traveling to our offshore locations to strengthen our continued teamwork domestic and abroad.

オークウッドでの５年間

初めまして。オークウッド　セールスマネージャーの辻　千賀子と申します。
私が弊社に入社して約6年が過ぎ、私は古株メンバーの１人です。来月からは産休に入る為、この6年間で倍以上に成長した会社を振り返って感想を述べさせていただきます。

私は、2002年の9月にオークッドレジデンス麻布十番の開業スタッフとして入社しました。オークウッドレジデンス麻布十番は東京では４つめのプロパティーで、現在の９つに比べれば本当に規模が小さかったです。

この会社は目まぐるしい速さで成長し、それと共に社員も随分と増え、組織としても変わりました。システム、コンピューター、ポリシーなどは変わりましたが、風通しの良い社風や仕事環境は変わりません。今までも様々なバックグラウンドを持った社員が、自分の考えや意見を自由に交換し、互いに刺激を受けつつ会社と共に成長してきました。この経験は私の財産だと思っています。過去６年間の間には人数が少なく大変な時もしばしばありましたが、上司は皆プライベートライフを大切する為、社員にも同様に気遣ってくれます。本当によく働き、よく笑いました。

この度の私の産休についても、特に２０代～３０代の女性が大半をしめる会社の為、柔軟に対応してもらい、この恵まれた環境に感謝しています。女性にとってはとても働きやすい環境の為、産休の申請も問題もなく、産休・育児休暇後も復帰を考えています。この寛容な環境下でも、マネージメントで初めて産休を申請するということもあり、妊娠の報告をした際は緊張をしました。私の産休によって、新しくセールスを採用するか、または社内で人事異動が発生するからです。　カントリーマネージャーに妊娠の報告をした時のことは、良く覚えています。どういう反応が返ってくるか分からずドキドキしながら、「大変申し訳ないのですが、妊娠したため、今年の秋から約９か月ほどお休みを頂く必要があります。」と言いました。そうしたら、「何で謝っているの？おめでとう。良かったじゃないか」と言われ、私の心配は吹き飛びました。

今や日本での女性の仕事環境は劇的に改善してるとは言われますが、まだ問題点は多いのが現状です。２０代の若い女性社員から母親となる私が問題なく受け入れられ、会社と共に成長できたことを心から感謝しています。今後も共に成長し続けられたらと思っております。

Hello. My name is Chikako Tsuji, sales manager of Oakwood.
It has been more than 6 years since I joined the company. I am one of original members with Oakwood, Japan. As I will take a maternity leave from the beginning of November, I would like to write about the memory of Oakwood, which has grown to more than double the size of the company 6 years ago.

I joined Oakwood, Japan, as one of the opening associates of Oakwood Residence Azabujyuban in September, 2002. Oakwood Residence Azabujyuban was the 4th property in Tokyo, so it is a big difference in comparison to the current situation. (There are 9 properties in Tokyo)

As you can imagine, the more we grow, the more employees we have, and the more organized of a company we have got. System, computer, policy, etc have changed a lot yet the working environment and company culture have not been changed much. We've grown by exchanging the ideas and thoughts among the employees who have various background and experiences in past. I truly think that my personal growth with the company's expansion is my precious asset. During the 6 years, we have often short in employees and have had a tough time, yet our general managers always care for us very much. We always work hard and laugh a lot. All our general managers enjoy their private lives as well!

For my pregnancy, I was quite fortunate since the company is quite acceptable and flexible about it. We have many female associates, especially in the 20' and 30's, working in the organization. Therefore, I did not have any problems requesting for a maternity leave and will come back to work after the leave. In spite of the women friendly working environment, I was quite nervous telling my pregnancy to our country manager as I was the first person in the management position to request for maternity leave and I knew that he would need to find someone to work my position or need moving associates. I still remember when I told the country manager about it. I said, "I am very sorry but I am pregnant. I must take a maternity leave some time from this Fall for about 9 months." Then, he asked me, "Why are you sorry? I am happy for you.", which blew my worry away!

Even though people say the working environment for women has been improved in Japan, but it is still a big problem.
I am quite fortunately to have grown together with the company and despite changing my status from a single young girl to a mother! I look forward to growing continuously with Oakwood.

シンガポールでのトライアスロン大会

久しぶりにブログを担当します。以前、仕事の合間をぬって趣味でトライアスロンをやっていると書いたのですが、今年の9月9日、シンガポールで開催された70.3アイアンマン・トライアスロンに参加してきました。スイム1.9km、自転車90km、そしてマラソン21.1kmの行程です。今回は調子がよく、自分の参加した年齢別グループの中でなんと2着でゴールしました！
これにより、11月8日にフロリダのクリアウオーターで行われる70.3アイアンマン世界大会への参加資格を得たのです。私にとって初めての世界大会であり、今から楽しみでなりません。

この写真はシンガポールでのレースの様子です。記録は5時間11分33秒（スイム42分2秒、自転車2時間39分52秒、マラソン1時間45分21秒）。参加者1400人のうち89位で、上述のように45-49歳の男性の中では2位でした

東京の夏の暑さの中でトレーニングを積んだおかげで、私はシンガポールでの大会には自信をもって臨んでおり、年齢別グループの中で10位入賞を目指していました。当日はシンガポールらしくひどく蒸し暑い日でした。スイムの記録はいつもどおりでしたが、自転車、ハーフマラソンともに自己ベストを更新！ハーフマラソン1時間45分というこの日の私の成績は、プロのアスリートも含めた参加者全体で50位に入る記録でした。レース後の私は確かにひどく消耗していましたが、誇らしく充実した気分でした。

来月の世界大会には1,800人の世界レベルの強者が参加します。ペースは速く、私にとっても厳しい戦いとなるでしょう。残り4週間トレーニングを積み、自分のベストを尽くしつつ、この経験を思い切り楽しんで来ようと思っています。

実は私の妻の親しい友人が、フロリダの大会開催地の近くに住んでおり、妻は今回のフロリダ行きをとても喜んでいます。せっかくですから現地にいる間に少しは楽しい時間を持つつもりです。またこの場でレース報告を行いたいと思っています。応援よろしくお願いします！

It has been quite a while since I made my last blog entry and it is time that I make one again. In the past I mentioned that I participate in triathlons as my hobby when I am not working hard for Oakwood. On September 9th I took part in the Singapore 70.3 Ironman triathlon, a race that consisted of a 1.9km swim, a 90km bike ride and a 21.1km run. Am pleased to say that I managed to do very well in this race; I finished in second place in my age group and thereby qualified for the 70.3 Ironman World Championships in Clearwater, Florida that will be held on November 8th. Of course I am very excited and eager to race in the first World Championships that I have ever qualified for. Below is my race report from the Singapore.

Finish time 5:11:33 (89th over all out of 1,400. 2nd of out in the Male 45-49 age group)
Swim 1.9km 42:02
Bike 90km 2:39:52
Run 21.1km 1:45:21

Because of my training over the heat of summer in Tokyo, I felt that I was ready to do well in Singapore by aiming at a top 10 finish in my age group. The conditions for the race were tough as it was very hot and humid, which is the normal weather in Singapore. After an average swim, I did my fastest ever bike ride over 90km, which was great. And I was very happy with my 1:45hr run for the half marathon as it was also my triathlon half Ironman personal best time and was the 50th best run on the day, including all of the professional athletes. And even though I look like I was in pain at the finish of the race, I felt very strong and had a great time.

My result in Singapore was good enough to qualify for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Florida next month. As 1,800 of the world’s best triathletes will also compete in this race, it will be a very fast and difficult for me. But I will go there to be as fast as I can, and to most importantly have a lot of fun and enjoy the experience. I will train hard over the next four weeks to prepare for this. Another good point is that my wife will join me in Florida and she is also very happy as she will visit some close friends who live close to where the race will be held. So we will also have time for a holiday while we are there. I will post a race report after the race. Wish me luck!

可愛い小さなゲスト

最後のブログはオークウッドレジデンス赤坂の可愛い小さなゲスト、ナミを紹介したいと思います。　

ナミは5歳半の女の子です。今年の6月にここのゲストになりました。ナミのパパとママはサーファーなので名前をナミと言います。最初はいつもプルプル震えていた小さなナミ。優しいパパとママの愛情を一杯もらってスクスク成長しました。今はお散歩の行き帰りに会うとシッポを千切れるくらいに振ってくれます。

オークウッドレジデンス赤坂では小さな犬と猫を歓迎します。私はどんなに疲れていてもナミに会った日はとてもハッピーです。可愛いナミの写真を提供してくれたGaryさん、Mariさん、ありがとうございます！次回のイベントで？オークウッドレジデンス赤坂で皆様にお会い出来る日を楽しみにしています。　お元気で！

Cute & Little Guest

This is my last blog, and I would like to introduce our cute and little guest, Nami taking this opportunity.

Nami is 5-1/2month-old girl who joined as our guest in June. Her daddy and mommy are surfers, so her name is “Nami” (surf). She was very small, always stood shivering for the first couple of weeks. Then, she grew up vigorously having lots of affection of her daddy and mommy. She wags her tail swiftly when I see her to and from walk.

Small dog or cat is welcome at Oakwood Residence Akasaka. Even if I’m completely exhausted, I feel happy if I meet Nami. Let me express my heartfelt appreciation to Gary-san and Mari-san for giving me Nami’s cute photo! I’m looking forward to seeing you at the next event? at Oakwood Residence Akasaka in the near future. Look after yourself!

カラオケパーティー

カラオケパーティー

こんにちは。今回が私の書く最後のブログとなります。

今回はパーティーのご案内です！
オークウッドレジデンス青山・白金では2ヶ月に1度ご滞在頂いているお客様の参加を対象にしたレジデンスパーティーを行っております。
前回はマネージャー大越がブログにて紹介しておりましたとおりお客様・スタッフ皆で納涼船に乗りました。今月は19日に金曜日に渋谷にてカラオケパーティーを計画しております。カラオケという文化のない国からのお客様には少し抵抗があるかもしれませんが、この機会を通じて日本のカラオケ文化に触れて頂き、また一週間の疲れ・ストレスをパーティーの場で発散して下さればと思っております。

2008年今後のパーティーは10月にハロウィンパーティー、12月にクリスマスパーティーを計画しておりますので、ご滞在予定のある方は是非参加してみて下さい！お待ちしております。

Hello again! This is my last one!

I would like to make an announcement about our residence party this time!
Oakwood Residence Aoyama and Oakwood Apartments Shirokane hold the residence party once in two months. Our last party was in July and we have been on the cruise as our manager Tamaki has written in her blog. The party in September is this coming Friday, 19th and we are going to have a Karaoke party in Shibuya!
It might be very different culture from other countries though, we hope them to get an experience of Japanese Karaoke culture! Also, we hope them to let the stress out by singing and drinking!

Our future activities are a Halloween Party in October and a Christmas Party in December. If you plan to stay with us, please join us.

Azabujyuban Festival & Staff Party

毎年8月に開催される夏の人気イベント「麻布十番祭り」。　この祭りが行われる週の金曜日の夜、私たちは仕事終了と同時にオークウッドレジデンス麻布十番のBBQテラスに集合します。　麻布十番祭りの屋台でお祭り料理と飲み物を購入して、勝手に（？）スタッフパーティーの始まりです。　

また、この日はオークウッドレジデンス麻布十番のスタッフは浴衣を着てお客様を出迎えています。

来年、麻布十番祭りに参加される方は、オークウッドのBBQテラスを覗いてみてください。　きっと私達の笑い声が聞こえてくるでしょう。

The huge annual Azabujyuban Festival which is a popular summer event in Tokyo is held every August. We always have a staff party after work on Friday, the day of Azabujyuban festival at the outdoor BBQ terrace of Oakwood Residence Azabujyuban. We bought a lot of Matsuri food at some of the food stands and then got together to eat.

Every year, Customer Service Representatives dressed in Yukata at the front desk at that day and the residents are happy to see our CSRs dressing in Yukata.

If you have a plan to join the Azabujyuban Festival next year, please look in the BBQ terrace of Oakwood Residence Azabujyuban. Surely you will hear our laughter.

E-boat race

私達、オークウッドレジデンス六本木ティーキューブと麻布十番のスタッフは、昨年度から10人1チームで江戸川のE-ボートレースに出場しています。昨年は初出場でしかも皆初心者ながら24チーム中、なんと1位になってしまいました。今年も7月19日の猛暑の中、再び優勝を目指して出場しました。どのチームも昨年とは見違えるほどのパワーとチームワークで初戦から接戦となりました。オークウッドチームも負けじと大きな掛け声で必死でパドルを漕ぎました。

接戦をなんとか勝ち抜き緊張の決勝戦。
3チームがスタートラインに並ぶと同時にスタートの合図が響き皆最後の力をふりしぼり一心不乱にパドルを漕ぎ出しました。スタート直後から昨年2位の北海道チームにみるみる抜かされ、前方も他のチームに塞がれてしまいました。折り返し地点では追突までする激戦でした。

トレーニング不足（？）と猛暑にやられ、恥ずかしながらオークウッドチーム最後は掛け声とパドルを漕ぐリズムが合っていませんでした（笑）昨年2位のチームに優勝を奪われはしましたが、今年は2位に入賞しました。そして、チームの絆が更に強くなったことは確かです。

これから来年のレースに向けてトレーニングを始めます。

E-boat race

The staff in Oakwood Residence Roppongi T-Cube and Oakwood Residence Azabujyuban have been participating in E-boat race at Edogawa River from last year.

Since we became in the 1st place among 24teams last year even though we were all beginner, we all thought we are going to get the title again in this year! But it was not so easy to win the race 2years in a row. As a result, a team from Hokkaido beat us pretty badly in the final tournament. However we all found a sense of teamwork in the race though the result was 2nd place.

We are going to start training to get back the title next year!!

オフィスの癒し

こんにちわ。あやシニアです。
今日は私たちのオフィスの「癒し系」についてお話させていただきます。

１ヶ月ほど前、チェックアウトされるお客様が縁日で金魚すくいをしたが、生き物なので自国に持って帰れないとの理由で１匹の金魚を私達へ託されました。
水槽やフィルターを買い揃え、１匹では淋しそうだったので仲間のメダカ、カメ、グッピー、水槽やフィルターを購入しオフィスで飼うことにしました。残念ながら金魚は２週間ほどで死んでしまったのですが（泣）、今はメダカの赤ちゃんも産まれ、オフィスの癒しとしてみんなで大切に飼っています。

ちょっと疲れた時などに魚を見たり、カメをみたり。その不思議でかわいい行動などに癒されながら仕事をしている毎日です☆

Hello again, this is Aya Sr.
This time, I would like to talk about our “therapy” in the office.

About a month ago, we received a goldfish from the guests . The reason was that the guests got the goldfish from a temple festival, but could not bring it back to their own country.
So I bought a fish tank along with a filter and decided to have him in my office. Since he looked lonely, I bought a killifish, a guppy, and a turtle for his friends as well as all the tanks and filters. Unfortunately, the goldfish died after 2 weeks, but now we have new friends joining, the babies of the killifish. They are the relaxing oasis in the office.

Looking at the fish and turtle whenever I feel tired: that is how I manage to work everyday, getting healed by their cute and interesting actions.

あやシニア

はじめまして。オークウッドアパートメンツ新宿・四ッ谷のルームズスーパーバイザー松尾と申します。
以前、弊社エグゼクティブアシスタントマネージャー平岡の書いたブログにありましたが、私が「あやシニア」です。
ここで簡単に私のオークウッド歴を語らせていただきます。私はオークウッドレジデンス六本木ティーキューブのカスタマーサービスレプリゼンタティブとして入社し、１年半後にオークウッドレジデンス麻布十番へ移り、その後、オークウッドアパートメンツ四ッ谷のオープニングの為フロントオフィススーパーバイザーとして更に異動し、オープン後オークウッドアパートメンツ新宿のフロントスーパーバイザーとして更に更に移動を重ね、オークウッドアパートメンツ新宿・四ッ谷のルームズスーパーバイザーとして今に至る訳です。・・・異動が好きな訳ではないのですが・・・誰にも負けないくらい異動をしているかもしれません。
今は元気いっぱいのスタッフに恵まれ、日々楽しく仕事をしています。スタッフ全員大切な同僚でもあり、同時に大切でかけがえのない友達のような、兄弟姉妹のような、私にはなくてはならない存在です。

Hello, everyone. My name is Aya Matsuo and I work as the Rooms Supervisor at Oakwood Apartments Shinjuku and Oakwood Apartments Yotsuya.
I was mentioned as “Aya Sr.” in the previous blog of our Executive Assistant Manager, Mercy Hiraoka.

I would now like to briefly introduce my Oakwood history. I entered as a Customer Service Representative at Oakwood Residence Roppongi T-Cube, and was transferred to Oakwood Residence Azabujuban after a year and a half. I transferred to Oakwood Apartments Yotsuya as a Front Office Supervisor for the grand opening, and again was transferred to Oakwood Apartments Shinjuku. And here I am now as the Rooms Supervisor for both Oakwood Apartments Shinjuku and Yotsuya. It’s not that I like transferring…but I guess I have been moving around more than anyone else.

Currently, I am enjoying my job with my lovely energetic staffs. All the staffs are my precious colleagues, as well as my valuable friends, sisters and brothers, and they mean so much to me.

お客様との思い出☆

こんにちは！いよいよ私が書く最後のブログとなりました。
第1弾ではカスタマーサービススタッフについて、第2弾ではお客様とスタッフのパーティーについてお話してきましたが、第3弾では、私が7年間オークウッドで働いてきた中で、1番印象に残っているお客様についてお話したいと思います。現在私はオークウッド青山に常勤しておりますが、3年前まではオークウッドアパートメンツ白金のカスタマーサービスとして勤務しておりました。オープニングスタッフということもあり、最初は右も左も分からず、手探りの状態で毎日お客様へのサービスに努めていたある日、男性のお客様が一人白金にチェックインされました。とても気さくでお話が大好きなお客様で、会社から帰宅されるとフロントで平均30分から長い時には1時間くらいお話されていくこともありました。そんなある日、彼のフィアンセも一緒に滞在することになったと報告を受け、それから1年後にはご結婚をされ、お客様は２人家族になりました。その１年後お客様には１児の男の子が産まれ３人家族となり、そのまた１年後には２人目の男の子が産まれ、４人家族でオーックウッドをチェックアウトされたのです。その後ご家族はチェックアウトされた今でも時々会いに来てくれます。私はこのお客様とそのご家族の節目、節目に立ち会えたことを今でも幸せに思い、オークウッドで働いていたからこそこのような体験ができたのだと思います。このような体験の他にもお客様のお子さんの成長や、喜び、悲しみといった様々な大切なシーンに立ち会えることは、私の喜びでもあり誇りでもあります。これからも沢山の国や言葉も違うお客様と出会い、さまざまな貴重な体験ができる環境に感謝しつつ大切な仲間達と一緒にお客様をオークウッド青山と白金にてお迎えして行きたいと思います。これからが夏本番となりますが、皆さんも体に気をつけて良い夏をお過ごし下さい。またお会いできる日を楽しみにしております！

Hi, everyone! Tamaki, again. This is the third and the last blog by me.

In the first blog, I talked about the Customer Service Representatives, and the second one was about the Residents’ Party. Now today, I would like to write about the customer who is most memorable to me.

Although I am now based at Oakwood Residence Aoyama, I had once been working at Oakwood Apartments Shriokane until three years ago as a Customer Service Representative. It was just after the opening of the property, and I was striving everyday for better customer satisfaction.

One day, a male guest checked in at Shirokane. As he was friendly and talkative, he often stopped by at the Front Desk when he returns from work and had a conversation with me for half an hour, or even an hour sometimes. Shortly after, he advised us that his fiancée would stay with him, and a year later, they got married. In a year, they had the first baby boy, and in another year, they had second baby boy. He was by himself when he checked in, but when he checked out, he had a family of four including himself…! Even now, they sometimes stop by to say hi to us. It is a real pleasure that I have been able to share with him the precious moments of his life. And it all happened because I have been working at Oakwood.

This is not the only example. I have encountered so many guests and shared with them their joy and sorrow. I have always enjoyed such experiences, and in fact, I am proud of them. I will be thanking for this rewarding situation, and will be enjoying welcoming guests from all over the world, together with my colleagues, at Oakwood Residence Aoyama and Oakwood Apartments Shriokane.

It is in the midst of summer in Japan now. Please take good care of yourself, and enjoy your days! See you next time!!

2008年 納涼船

第１弾ブログは楽しんでいただけましたか？第２弾の今回は、先日７月１８日（金）に行われた納涼船レジデンツパーティーの模様をご紹介したいと思います！
オークウッドでは、滞在のお客様とオークウッドスタッフの交流の場を増やしたいというのがきっかけで、オープン当時から年に平均６回～７回のパーティーを企画しています。これまでは各プロパティー（物件）のラウンジで季節にちなんだパーティーを行っていましたが、今回は初のプロパティー外でのパーティーとなりました！私たちが初試みの場所に選んだのは竹芝から期間限定で出港している納涼船の貸しきりお座敷です。当日は雨も降ったせいか、湿度もたっぷりで蒸々したとっても暑い１日でしたが、そんな暑さにもめげず、お客様、スタッフ含めて６４名も集まってくれました！↓がその時の様子です。このお客様の笑顔！楽しそうでしょう！この笑顔を見るときが、私がオークウッドで働いていて良かったなぁと実感できる瞬間でもあるんです☆

全部の写真をご紹介できないのでが残念ですが、参加されたお客様、スタッフ共々食べて飲んで夜景も楽しんで、思い思いに日本の夏を楽しんでいたようです。今回はオークウッド青山、オークウッド白金、オークウッド赤坂、オークウッド六本木セントラルの４プロパティーによる合同パーティーでしたが、プロパティー間を越えた交流が出来たようで、お客様にもとても喜んでいただきました！最後に、このパーティーの企画に参加しくれたスタッフにも心から感謝です!　ありがとうござました！

“Noryosen” Cruising

It is Tamaki again. Did you enjoy my first blog? I hope you did!

Today, I would like to talk about the Residents’ Party on “Noryosen” Cruising which was held on Friday, 18 July.

Since the opening of Oakwood properties, we have held “Residents’ Party” six to seven times a year, hoping to increase opportunities for both our guests and staff to get to know each other. Such Residents’ Parties have always been held at on-site lounges of the properties, but for the first time, we held a party outside Oakwood – offshore of Takeshiba on the “Noryosen” boat which is available only for this season.

Despite the rainy & humid weather and hot temperature, as many as 64 guests and staff joined. Just look at all the smiling faces! These smiles always make me very happy when working at Oakwood…

I wish I could show all the photos… Both our guests and staff enjoyed the “summer in Japan” very much over the food, drinks, and the view from the boat. The party in fact was co-hosted by Oakwood Residence Aoyama, Oakwood Residence Akasaka, Oakwood Apartments Shirokane, Oakwood Apartments Roppongi Central, and our guests were making the best of the opportunity to meet people living in another Oakwood. And last but not least, many thanks to my colleagues who coordinated the party!

オークウッドレジデンス青山、オークウッドアパートメンツ白金のフロントオフィスマネージャーをしております大越玉貴です。私はオークウッドアパートメンツ白金のオープニングスタッフとして入社して早いもので今年7年目になります。私がこれまでオークウッドの一員として勤めてこれたのは、日々私を支えてくれる大切なスタッフとまるで家族のような世界各国からのお客様のお陰で泣いたり笑ったりの変化がある日々をおくることができるからだと思います。
そこで今日は先日私がホッと心が和んだ日のことをお話したいと思います。私が所属するフロントオフィスは、私を含む計8名で、日々お客様への精神誠意のサービスに努めています。一人一人とても個性的で性格もまったく違いますが、唯一8人とも共通して持っているものは、お互いを思いやる心が深いことです。そのためスタッフ同士もとても仲が良く、私の自慢のスタッフです！
そんな中先日その内の2人、みどりちゃん、さきこちゃん（オークウッドはオープン当事から名前でお互いを呼び合うのが日常です。）のバースデーをスタッフ皆でお祝いしました！二人の誕生日は1日違いで、性格もまったく違う二人ですが、見てください！この写真！まるで双子の姉妹のようで、とってもかわいかったので是非皆さんにもご紹介したくてブログにのせちゃいました！！みどりちゃんは入社1年目のいつも笑顔でスタッフからもお客様からも大人気！さきこちゃんはまだ入社3ヶ月の新米カスタマーサービススタッフですが、落ち着いて丁寧に仕事をこなす頑張り屋さんです。

こんな2人の姿↑を見て、日々の忙しさを一瞬？だけ忘れてとっても癒された私の1日でした。忙しい日々を送っている皆さん！オークウッド青山＆白金には他にも皆さんをホッとさせるスタッフがいつでも皆さんをお待ちしていますので、是非1度お立ち寄りください！最後に、どっちがみどりちゃんでどっちがさきこちゃんかはお立ち寄りの際に確かめてくださいね♪

Twins at Aoyama

Greetings from Oakwood Residence Aoyama! I am Tamaki Okoshi, Front Office Manager for Oakwood Residence Aoyama & Oakwood Apartments Shirokane. I joined Oakwood as one of the opening staff, and this is already my 7th year here. My days at Oakwood have been quite dynamic with a lot of laughter and tears. And I am still here, supported by my constantly dedicated colleague, as well as by our valuable customers from all over the world who are as warm as my families.

Front Office Department has 8 staff, and we all do our best every day to extend warm and thoughtful service to our guests. Although each staff has her/his strong personality, every one of us always cares about each other and gets along very well. I am so proud of them.

Today, let me talk about the happy moment we shared a few days ago. Two of our staff, Midori and Sakiko (we have always called each other by names since the opening of Oakwood), will have their birthdays this month. Midori has been working with us for a year, and her smile always makes guests and staff happy. Sakiko just started three months ago, but her calmness and carefulness are already appreciated.

We held a “joint birthday party” for them a few days ago, because Midori’s birthday is only a day after Sakiko’s. Just look at the photos here! They were very cute and look like twin sisters, even though their characters are pretty much different. For me, it was a very relaxing moment - in the middle of another busy day…!

When you arrive at Oakwood Aoyama or Shirokane after a long and hectic day, you will be greeted by our staff who cordially welcomes you in a warm and relaxing atmosphere. And you will come to recognize which in the photos is Midori and which is Sakiko…!

夏のイベント

ここ数日本当に蒸し暑くて、いよいよ夏本番ですね。
これからのシーズンは、花火やお祭りなどイベントがたくさんあるので楽しみです。

このシーズン、フロントでは、都内で行われる花火大会のインフォメーションを一覧にして作って、ご希望のお客様にお配りしています。 なかなか好評で、今年も既に何人ものお客様がご希望されてお持ちになりました。きっとお客様のお役に立てていることと思います。

私たちにとって夏の最大のイベントと言えば、8月22日から24日の間に麻布十番商店街で毎年開催される「麻布十番納涼まつり」です。期間中には、約300店もの夜店が立ち、たくさんの方が麻布十番商店街にいらっしゃいます。この日はフロントのスタッフも浴衣を着て、お祭りの雰囲気を盛り上げるのですが、お客様から一緒に写真を取って欲しいとリクエストされるほど好評で、この期間中は私たちもお祭りムードを楽しませて頂いています。

お時間のある方は、是非、この国際色豊かな夏祭りに来てみて下さい。きっと楽しんで頂けると思います。お出かけの際には、暑さ対策を忘れないで下さいね。

It is really muggy for these past few days. Height of summer is coming, isn’t it?
Summer is very exiting season since there will be many events such as fireworks and summer festivals.

In this season, we prepare the information of fireworks festival held in Tokyo area and give it to the residents when the residents asked. It is highly regarded by the residents, and some of them already picked it up. I believe that it surely helps the residents very much!

The biggest event in summer for us is Azabujyuban Festival which will be held from August 22 to 24. During the period, over 300 stalls will open in Azabujyuban area, and huge number of people will visit the area.
Our Customer Service staff will wear Yukata during the festival and boost the mood of the festival. That is so popular for our residents as to request taking a picture with the staff. We will also enjoy the mood of the festival!

Please visit this festival which has international flavor if you have time. I trust you can enjoy it very much! Please don’t forget to prepare for battle with heat when you come to the festival!!!

Nano

こんにちは！平岡マーシーです。第3弾である今回は、簡単な自己紹介をさせていただきたいと思います。
仕事以外で、私にとって何よりも大切なものがあります。それは、愛犬、ナノです。
ナノは、チワワとヨークシャテリアの混血で、体重は1.5キロあります。彼には毛がなく、一風変わった印象を与えるためか、多くの人はナノがねずみに似ていると言います。下に載せている写真を一目見ていただければ、ねずみ以外の何者でもないことがお分かりいただけると思います（笑）この上無いほどにかわいい子なのです！！！
会社での長い一日を終えて帰宅すればナノが待っていてくれるのだ、と思うだけで本当に救われています！

そろそろ本題に戻り、オークウッドのブログにふさわしいよう、私がこれまでオークウッドと共に歩んできたキャリアをご紹介させていただきます。

わたしのオークウッドの歴史は、オークウッドレジデンス六本木ティーキューブのカスタマーサービスリプレゼンタティブからはじまりました。そこでの最高の思い出は、2004年のEmployee of the Yearとして表彰されたことです。

各プロパティからのカスタマーサービスリプレゼンタティブが集まり、幹事となって、オークウッドジャパンのクリスマスパーティを2007年に開きました。私もその一員として加わりました。それは私にとって大きなチャレンジでもあり、数々の楽しい思い出を残してくれたイベントでもありました。

オープンから1年後、オークウッドアパートメンツ新宿は、オークウッドの中でProperty of the Yearを獲得することができました！それも、すべて第１回・第2回目のブログで紹介した仲間たちのおかげであります。

以前のブログでケレンが述べていたように、オークウッドは従業員全員の誕生日を共に祝います！私の今年の誕生日は、オークウッド新宿と四ツ谷の仲間たちのおかげで、忘れられないようなものとなりました！

今回、こうしてオークウッドとそこで働く仲間たちを紹介をさせていただく機会を与えてもらうことができて、とても光栄でした。読んでいただき、ありがとうございました！

And now a little something about me…

Other than work, there’s one thing that is very important to me. And that would be my dog Nano.

He’s a Chihuahua/Yorkshire terrier mix and weighs 1.5 kilos. He’s a strange, hairless dog, that a lot of people think looks like a rat. If you see his picture below, I’m sure you’ll agree with me that he looks nothing like a rat. He’s very, very cute!

It’s great to know that when I come home after a long day at the office, Nano will there to greet me!

But since this is a blog about Oakwood, I thought I’d share some of the highlights of my career with Oakwood.

• I started off as a Customer Service Representative at Oakwood Residence Roppongi T-Cube. One the best moments was when I was awarded Employee of the Year for 2004.

• A great group of Customer Service Representatives from each property and I put together the Christmas Party for Oakwood Japan in 2007. It was a great challenge and great fun!

• One year after opening, Oakwood Apartments Shinjuku won the Property of the Year award for Oakwood thanks to all the people I mentioned in my previous two blogs!

• As mentioned by Keren in a previous blog, Oakwood always celebrates every associate’s birthday. This year was one of my most memorable ever, thanks to the Oakwood Shinjuku/Yotsuya team!

It’s been great having an opportunity to write about Oakwood and the people who work here. Thanks for reading. Have a great summer!

the tree of “I LOVE YOU” (愛の実る木)

オークウッドプレミア東京ミッドタウンではここ最近、千賀子、裕絵、加菜子、小奈絵、貴生と、スタッフの結婚をお祝いする機会が続いています。そしてその勢いは止まらず、１０月には明子の結婚も決まりました。今の時点で私が知っているのはこれだけですが、もっと続く気配があります。

ここには縁結びの神様がいるのかもしれません。

東京ミッドタウンの中のオークウッド目の前に続くミッドタウンガーデンで一本背の高い木があります。去年のイルミネーション期間、キラキラ輝くイルミネーションの中で、その高い木だけがピンクにライトアップされていたのをご存知でしょうか？私も何故一本だけピンクなのかとても不思議に思い聞いてみたところ、東京ミッドタウンの山本氏がおっしゃるにはそれはキューピッドの木で、愛する人とその木の下に立つと愛が実るのだそうです。

この“愛の木”の場所が気になる方はご連絡下さい。

At Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown, we have been blessed to celebrate the wedding events of our associates Chikako, Hiroe, Kanako, Sanae and Takao, it doesn’t stop there, with Akiko’s coming up in October. At this moment, that is all that I know of however, I hear that there may be more to come.

So, for those of you who would like to tie the knot, this is the place to be….

In the garden, in front of our property is the tallest tree in the Tokyo Midtown complex where this past Christmas it was the only tree all dressed up in pink. When asked, Mr. Yamamoto our President said that it was tree of cupid, where love will blossom should you stand under the tree with your loved one.

開業準備での楽しみ

オークウッドプレミア東京ミッドタウンの副総支配人をしております、花城エイミーと申します。

オークウッドプレミア東京ミッドタウンの開業準備スタッフとして、昨年は赤坂六本木エリアで大変注目を浴びていた東京ミッドタウンプロジェクトとあわせてオープンを迎えたこの物件の全ての運営に関わる開業準備にたずさわった大変やりがいのあるものでした。

その中でとっても楽しんだのはたくさんの応募者の方達と会うことができた採用面接でした。その中から私と総支配人のマーティン・フルックで慎重にスタッフを採用したわけですが、私達はその面接の中で一つ変わった質問をすることにしていました。その中で私が気に入っていたものは「あなたは卵を調理できますか？」というものでした。この質問をすると、その面接をしている方がユーモアのセンスのある方なのか、もしくは予想外の質問に動揺するのかがわかりました。私が一番気に入った答えは、ある女の子が言った「いいえ、できません。でも調理できるようになります！」というものです。

この開業からの１年を振り返り、私達は本当に最高のスタッフを採用したと実感しています。「なせばなる」というやる気に満ち溢れたスタッフばかりで、このオークウッドプレミア東京ミッドタウンの素晴らしいチームワークを築き上げた彼らを大変誇りに思っています。

私たちが常に心からお客様のことを第一に考えているからこそ、入居者の方へ快適なご滞在をお約束できるのです。

My name is Amy Hanashiro and I am the Executive Assistant Manager for Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown.

As a pre-opening staff of this property last year, it was certainly a challenge to coordinate the all operational requirements involved in opening this property in conjunction with complex Tokyo Midtown bringing prestige to the Akasaka & Roppongi area.

The most enjoyable part was the interviewing process where I got to meet people from all walks of life and from there, hiring of the associates who were handpicked by our General Manager, Martin Fluck and I. We decided to add a little fun to the normal interview questions and one of my favorite was “Can you cook eggs?” By asking this question, we could feel if the person being interviewed had a sense of humor and could fall in with the punches!!! One of my favorite answers was from a gal who said “No, but I’ll will!!”

Looking back at year that has already gone by, I must say we did hire the BEST OF ASSOCIATES for which I am very proud of for they all have the Can Do spirit that makes a great team that we have here at Oakwood Premier Tokyo Midtown.

Our resident’s can be rest assured that we will always have their best interest in our hearts and soul.

THE ASSOCIATE EXPERIENCE（アソシエイツ・エクスペリエンス）

トレーニングマネージャーの桑畑ケンと申します。今回は皆さまにオークウッドのトレーニング部門についてご紹介したいと思います。

オークウッドで働くということは、“アソシエイツ・エクスペリエンス（Associate Experience）”といわれる体験をするということです。オークウッドでは、私達は内部顧客（internal customers）と外部顧客（external customers）の２つの顧客タイプの方々の為に働いています。外部顧客というのは私どものお客様（クライアント）なのに対して、内部顧客というのはアソシエイツと呼ばれる従業員たちとなります。私達の成功の秘訣は最高のカスタマーサービスと従業員をお客様と同じ位大切にしているという事です。

私達のトレーニング部門はオークウッドユニバーシティ（大学）と名づけられています。オークウッドユニバーシティはロサンゼルスの本社あり、度々“トレーニングマガジン”というアメリカの雑誌によるトップ１００優良トレーニング部門として選ばれております。今年のランキングはこちらをご覧下さい。オークウッドユニバーシティによるトレーニングは教室で行われるものから自己ベースで学習できるインターネットのコースまであります。

日本のトレーニング部門はシンガポールにあるオークウッドユニバーシティのアジアパシフィック支部の一部となり、次の任務を与えられています。

つまり、私達の管理職たちは、実際のオペレーションスタッフへ教育・指導するそれぞれのセクションの責任者と知識を分かち合おうということです。私はトレーニングマネージャーとして、この“アソシエイツ・エクスペリエンス（Associate Experience）”を作り出していくことに携わり、内部顧客（internal customers）に向上の機会を与え、オークウッドの名高い外部顧客（external customers）への優れたサービスを維持しています。

My name is Ken Kuwabata and I am the Training Manager for Oakwood in Japan. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to Oakwood’s Training Department.

Working at Oakwood is living what we call an “Associate Experience.” At Oakwood we serve two types of people: internal customers and external customers. Internal customers are known as associates (employees) while external customers are our guests (clients). Our success is based in outstanding customer service and our employees are valued as highly as our clients.

Our Training Department is named Oakwood University. Oakwood University is based in our headquarters in Los Angeles and has frequently been named as one of the Top 100 Training Organizations by an American publication called Training Magazine. You can view this year’s ranking by clicking here (note this is a 63MB file). Training conducted by Oakwood University varies from classroom to self-paced electronic courses.

Japan’s Training Department is an extension of the Asia-Pacific Campus of Oakwood University, based in Singapore, which has the following mission:

“To grow talents who will grow talents who will grow talents who will succeed in delivering value to our stakeholders.”

In other words, our key associates share their knowledge to our department heads who will in turn train and coach their own team. As a Training Manager, I am involved in creating this “Associate Experience” which provides our internal customers the opportunity to grow while maintaining Oakwood’s renowned service excellence for our external customers in Japan.

ハッピーバースデイ@ オークウッド

東京のオークウッドでは、スタッフ(“アソシエイト”と呼びます)の誕生日を祝う習慣があります。スタッフ全員の誕生日がリストアップされており、誰かの誕生日が近づくと、バースデイ・カードが用意され、次々にメッセージが記入されていきます。もちろん、当の本人に気づかれないようにこっそりとカードを回覧するのです。

誕生日当日になると、そのスタッフにめでたくカードが手渡され、ケーキでお祝いします。在籍年数の長いスタッフになると、周囲もその人の好みを知っているので、好みに合ったケーキを用意します。そして「ハッピーバースデイ」を皆で歌ったあと、キャンドルが吹き消されます。

実は、私の誕生日は5月なのです。定例のスーパーバイザー会議の終了後、突然「おめでとうございます」と言われてびっくりしました！私は今年4月に異動したばかりで、現在オフィスがあるオークウッドレジデンス青山では初めての誕生日だったわけですが、たくさんのスタッフに囲まれ、にぎやかなサプライズ・パーティーとなりました。偶然にも（？）、この日供されたのは私の好きなスポンジケーキでした。とても美味しかったですよ。

それにしても、日本の女性はケーキが大好きですね…！この写真の笑顔を見てください。ケーキがあればみんなハッピーです。

もちろん、オークウッドにご滞在くださるお客様の誕生日もお祝いします。バースデイ・カードにサインを入れ、心ばかりの品と合わせて、そっとお部屋へお届けします。お客様はみな、ご自身のお誕生日をオークウッドが忘れていないことに満足してくださいます。

One of the nice things about being an Oakwood associate (staff member) in Tokyo is the way that we celebrate birthdays. We keep a list of every associate’s birthday and a week before a birthday falls a birthday card is circulated for everyone else to write a birthday message in. The hardest part of this is to keep the card a secret from the associate, but we have a good system in place. Then on the day of the birthday we hold a small party where we present the card to the associate and then serve up a birthday cake. And as we get to know our associates as they work for us over the years, we try and serve their favorite type of birthday cake at their party. We then have the associate to blow out the candles on the cake while we all sing “Happy Birthday”.

My own birthday falls in May, so I was pleased to celebrate my first Oakwood birthday at my new property of Oakwood Residence Aoyama. The associates surprised me by holding my party after our monthly Department Head meeting. So it was a bigger than normal birthday party. And I one big thing that I have noticed since I starting living in Japan is that every loves to eat cake. Especially the ladies! Cakes make everyone happy! Just look at the all the smiles on the photos to see this.

And what type of birthday cake did they serve at my own party? My favorite type of sponge cake of course! And I can assure you that it was delicious!

And we don’t forget to celebrate our resident’s birthdays as well. We all sign a birthday card and then send it to their apartment along with a small gift. Our residents are always happy to have their birthdays remembered by the Oakwood team.

麻布十番　レジデンスパーティー

何週間か前に今年最初のレジデンスパーティーをオークウッドレジデンス六本木ティーキューブで行いましたが、先週3月21日は麻布十番での番でした。今回は東南アジアというテーマで行いました。地元のレストランにお願いしてインドネシア、タイ、マレーシア、そしてベトナム料理を取り揃えました。中でもタイカレー、サテイ、春巻き、ミーゴレン、パッタイはとても美味しかったです。
またシンガポールのタイガービール（私の一番のお気に入り）、そしてタイのシンハビールも用意しました。これらアジアのビールはとても軽く辛いアジア料理にはぴったりです。

今回は25名ものゲストの方にご参加いただきとても有意義なパーティーでした。前回同様、ゲストからフィードバックを聞ける良い機会でしたし、特に今回は私どものカスタマーサービスリプレゼンタティブについてとてもよいコメントをいただいて嬉しく思っています。

また今回のパーティーは私にとって少し寂しいものでもありました。というのも麻布十番と六本木ティーキューブでの私が主催する最後のパーティだったからです。
実際私のオークウッドでのキャリアはここ麻布十番にてレジデンスをオープンする1ヶ月前の2002年10月1日にスタートし、そして今までの5年半、六本木ティーキューブの立ち上げ等を含み汗と涙を流して今まで頑張ってきました。都内の他の4物件（オークウッドレジデンス赤坂、青山、オークウッドアパートメンツ白金、六本木セントラル）のオークウッドを引き継ぐと同時に、そんな麻布十番そしてティーキューブとも4月1日をもってお別れです。でも私のオーストラリア人の友であり仲間であり、そして現在オークウッドアパートメント新宿、四ッ谷のジェネラルマネージャーであるMichael Jaehrlingが私の後を引き継いでくれるので心配はありませんが。
今後は私そしてMichaelともにそれぞれ都内4プロパティーを受け持つことになり、今からとても楽しみです。

A few weeks ago we held our first resident’s party for the year at Oakwood Residence Roppongi T-Cube. Last week on Friday March 21st it was the turn of the second property that I manage, Oakwood Residence Azabujyuban, to hold their resident’s party. As we normally do, the party had a theme and this time it was a “South East Asian” night. We had come some local restaurants bring in some tasty, traditional food from Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. Thai curries, satay, spring rolls, mee goring and phad thai were just some of the dishes we served and I must say that they all tasted great. We also served Tiger beer from Singapore (a personal favorite of mine) and Singha beer from Thailand. These two beers are light and easy to drink and go very well with spicy Asian food.

It was a great night with over 25 residents joining the party through the evening. Again these parties provide me with a great opportunity to talk to residents to see how they are enjoying their stay at Azabujyuban. I am please to say that this time I received some great and very positive feedback as all of the residents love the property and gave high praise to the Customer Service Representatives at the front desk. This praise is very pleasing for me to hear as it is well deserved, they really do provide great and personalized service to residents.

This party also had a touch of sadness for me as it was the last party that will hosted at either Azabujyuban or T-Cube. I actually started my career with Oakwood at this residence, commencing there one month before the property opened on October 1st, 2002. I was the second employee to start work and I put a great deal of “blood, sweat and tears” into the residence over the past 5 and a half years. It will be goodbye to both Oakwood Residences Azabujyuban and Roppongi T-Cube on April 1st when I will take over the management of four other Oakwood properties in Tokyo. These are Oakwood Residences Akasaka and Aoyama and Oakwood Apartments Shirokane and Roppongi Central. The good news is that I will hand over management to my good friend and fellow Australian Michael Jaehrling, who currently manages Oakwood Apartments Shinjuku and Yotsuya. We will both manage four Oakwood properties and we both face exciting times as we assume our new jobs.

フィットネス

フィットネスやエクササイズは、オークウッドのレジデントの皆さんと同じように、私の生活にも欠かせないものとなっています。オークウッドのいくつかの物件にはジム施設が備わっていて、エクササイズが好きなレジデントの皆様に大変好評をいただいています。また、ジムがない物件に滞在中のレジデントには、近くにあるオークウッドのジムや、近隣のジムを特別価格で使用していただけるようになっています。オークウッドで生活するうえで、ジムはとても重要な役割を果たしています。

ジムは運動で汗を流す事の他に、レジデント同士の交流の場としても役立っています。私はこれまでに、T-Cubeのジムで知り合いになったというレジデントの話をたくさんうかがいました。私も時間がある時には、週に２，３回T-Cubeのジムを使い、レジデントと彼らのオークウッドでの生活について話す良い機会になっています。T-Cubeのジムの特筆すべき点は、六本木中を見渡せるそのすばらしい景色です。空気が澄んだ天気の良い日には、富士山まで見ることが出来ます！雪に覆われた冬の富士山は、とってもすばらしいですよ！

今年、私とジムでお会いしたレジデントの方々の何人かは、2月17日に開催された「東京マラソン」に出場しました。3万人も出場者がいたので、コース上でレジデントの姿を見かける事は無かったのですが、私は彼らが全員無事ゴール出来たと確信しています。私の結果ですか？ 私は、42.2ｋｍマラソンでは自己最高の3時間24分を記録 しましたが、目標は3時間15分以内でした。 だから、もっと練習を積んで、来年またチャレンジします！でも、総支配人という仕事は忙しく、なかなか時間が取れ無いかもしれませんが･･･。

今年もフィットネスの楽しみをオークウッドのスタッフに広めるつもりです。去年は、カヌーレースに参加したり（優勝しました！）、ゴールデンウィーク中に開催された「Tokyo English Life Line Runathon 」に参加したりしました。これらのイベントは、スタッフにとって仕事以外の楽しみにもなり、また「オークウッドチームの1員」としての意識を高めているのです。さあ、トレーニングを始める時間です！

Fitness and exercise plays a bit a big part in my life, as well the lives of many of our residents. Some of our Oakwood properties in Tokyo have gyms on-site, which are very popular with our residents who want to keep fit. And if a Residence does not have a gym on-site (some don’t), we have arrangements in place for residents to use the gyms at our sister properties that are close by, or at other gyms located in the neighborhoods at special rates. Our gyms are a very important part of Oakwood living.

Besides working up a sweat in while working out, the gyms are great places for our residents to meet other residents. I have heard many stories about residents meeting each other in T-Cube gym. When I am not busy I also use the gym a couple of times per week and it also gives me a chance to talk to residents about how their stay is going. Another great point about the gym at T-Cube is that it has great views of the city, especially over Roppongi. On a clear day you can even see Mount Fuji! Fuji-san is very nice to see in winter when it is covered in snow.

This year some of our residents, like me, ran in the Tokyo Marathon that was held on February 17th. While I didn’t get to see them out in the course, as there was an amazing 30,000 runners in the race, I do know that they all successfully finished the race. How did I do in the marathon? My time was a “personal best” of 3:24 hours for the 42.2km marathon, but I was hoping for a time under 3:15 hours. So I will have to train harder and try again next year! But of course being a General Manger already keeps me very busy.

This year again I will continue to spread the word about fitness and fun to the Oakwood staff. Last year my team and I competed in a canoe race (which we won), and joined the Tokyo English Life Line Runathon during Golden Week in early May. It is now time to start training! These events are always great fun for the staff to enjoy outside of work and they help to build them in to a winning team of “Oakwooders”.
